From the horse's mouth
Hey everyone
Been reading this with a lot of interest. It really is handy for us to hear about what people thought worked and what didn't.
I'll try and quickly respond to some of the main comments that have been raised:
"and it cant add that much to the cost, as most of that is the actual filming anyway, which they have allready and would do anyway on subsequent films..."
ROFLMAO!!!!!!! If only that were true. If editing this beast had been the easy cheap bit, it would have been 4 times as long with tonnes of extras and more games. Unfortanately this is a common misconception of editing unless you are talking about a guy sat alone in his bedroom editing for months adn months. Unfortanately that guy ain't me! We purposely went the more expensive route of hiring professional (and extremely talented) editors who wanted to try something a bit different. The filming was actually the easy bit- personally sitting through 40hrs of non-stop paintball footage (the good, the bad and the Blair Witch)with a notepad and a pen was the hard, soul-crushing bit!
By the end, their growing knowledge of paintball was definitely leading to far better edits so for the next one (the Euroball 3 DVD) the games should make even more sense, be hopefully a little bit flashier and hopefully with less mistakes.
Leads me onto...
2) Mistakes
Hands up here- I couldn't tell if someone was shot out and then came back. Maybe if it were someone like one of Hardcore or Tigers but otherwise, no chance!
Editing from cold that much stuff was bound to result in errors. My knowledge of the game now should definitely mean this happens less in Euroball (although there were 3 times the teams and so many kits that looked the same!).
By the way, you want a real mistake- a shiny pound to the first person who can spot the game within a game- 2 shots, blink and you miss it. Kinda feel sorry for one of the teams involved as it is their only appearance and its one of them getting it full on in the face. lol
3) Next
Well, basically this boils down to 1 thing: people buying the film. I want to do more paintball but whether we can at the cost level we set for this one is another question. One thing I won't do is make one for less though as I wasn't truly happy with this one. Less would mean worse and I just wouldn't bother.
As for what we will be doing- well we have been offered 2 of the largest tournies in paintball so hopefully we'll be seeing you all again in the summer! Its all down to the money tho...
Sorry about embarressing you Shelly
Unintentional I swear!
See you around all
