got the dvd.
watched it a couple of times.
liked it.

the reason there are short clips of the games is simple. a whole game on a film would be boring to non ballers and regular players alike.
think about it. first 20 seconds are frantic. loads of movement, shooting and a few eliminations.
next 2 mins or so are generaly a lot more sedate in comparison.
long balling a few small moves and some eliminations from clips and hopper shots.
all not that interesting to watch.
the fun stuff for viewers are the muggings and run throughs that close a game.
therefore snippets and game starts/ends make a better film than whole games.

I havent seen the Euro DVD but I did buy 300fps. A word of warning to you all - dont buy it.

If you want to moan about repeated bits then watch this. Not only do they repeat bits but they use the repeats in different formats. They break the DVD down into 5 events across the States(mainly PSP) showing the 5 & 10 man events. Some footage, said to be from a 5 man also gets shown in a 10 man and vice versa!! So which is it? For the length of time this DVD lasts (just over an hour) with no extras its a con. The two best bits are the bloopers, guys falling over, gun damage etc and the fight scene right at the end (which got some publicity around here ages ago).

300 fps is how not to make a Paintball DVD. NPPL Las Vegas is how you really want it, a Match of the Day style program, with commentary and slow mo on important bits.

And another thing, why do all these DVD's insist on using Nu-metal music? It all sounds the same after the 4th track. Variation would be good, a bit of Rap, House, R n B, Trance, anything but a continous wall of thrashing guitars.

Just my 2p

Euro 5-man DVD

Having watched the Eruo 5-man DVD a couple more times, I really am beginning to think its better than I first thought. People have been posting about how things are repeated over and over again, but what they've tried to do is in some of the games they've picked up on the moves that have won teams the games.
Also they've managed to cut film from various angles and not lose the moves going on, watch some paintball games on film and one minute Lasoya's hit, then the next he's mugging the last guy out,(actually that might not be a good example) but you know what I mean. Also has anybody noticed the excelent bits in Black & white with all the hits in colour, and the shot of the guy in the snake who just moves out of the way so that the stream of paint smacks the camera man were it hurts most. :D
As I said in my last post, show this to people who haven't played paintball and they want to know were they can play, which is what we all need for the sport. The higher the sports profile the more chance of getting outside sponsorship and who couldn't do with more of that.

I think alot of effort has gone into making this DVD. Sure there are some mistakes in there (like eliminated players making a "miracle come back" and appearing 20 seconds later), but what you guys have to realise is that, to the editor, we probably all look the same, and if he or she isnt a P8ntballer (which is probably the case) then trying to differentiate between 7 guys wearing the same tops with their faces behind the same masks is gonna be damn tough.
Continuity is a difficult thing to bring into a film using the footage from at least 5 cameras (from what I could see) and when you do get it right you are rewarded with a statue of a little gold man, and I dont think that is what these guys were aiming for.
They are obviously a talented group of young, eager film makers who wanted to bring their style of doing things into our exciting world of paintball. If it wasnt for the one song on this disk, I am pretty sure they could get away with selling this DVD off the shelf in ASDA or Woolworths. People like to buy all these skateboarding and Motorcross DVD'S, so why not paintball ?This is probably the first time we could bring paintball into someones home without having to read about it in the local paper the next day saying how "Violent" and "Violent" and "Violent" this sport is (not to mention the language).

Considering we probably didnt buy enough of these to cover their costs, it would be a shame if these guys didn't make another one. A great first attempt, obviously not done in someones bedroom on his PC. :D
