yes, but you can step down from pro or am to play novice. So they are all allowed to play Novice at least in the nppl

I was also surprised to see us registered in the lowest category. I didn't register us and I don't know exactly who will be there to play for our team.

Our roster probably will be (repeating some of Sam's list):

Matthew Green
Lars Herzig
Simon Applewhaite
Gregory André (of Camp Tigers)
Me

I don't know who else from the team will be there.

I certainly would encourage our team manager to register us correctly and fairly and it probably isn't too late to change.

It makes me wonder what to do with these put-together teams that are made up of semi-retired players, usually VIP/Allstar/Factory.

Since I was with a champion NPPL amateur team in 1996 (Nobodys) I have almost only guested with teams here and there. I played with Brass Eagle Factory at WC 1999 and we came in 4th. I played on an amateur team called Eurotrash at the first Joy Masters in 2000 and lost every game and came in dead last. And I played with Draxxus VIP in Amsterdam this year where I really sucked in all but two games and we didn't make it very far. Euro Allstars have only played two tourneys (Am B) and we never have, probably never will, practice. We won 5 of 10 games at Joy and 8 of 13 at Campaign (got into the semis).

So what's fair for a few old farts like me, a couple of hasbeen pros and a couple of nobodies? We love to play but don't want to unfairly spoil anybody else's chances.

In the past the rules have taken into account Old Skool players and qualified a player's status within a two or three year window. For example, if I recall correctly NPPL qualifies back to 2001 only and not before. In which case your classification probably isn't at issue regardless.
If there is some legit concern just make sure Camille and/or Chuck can clarify before Beard starts generating a schedule--probably very soon.

If I recall correctly (and this isn't a section of the rules I spend much time on), a player can drop his classification by one rank if he doesn't play in any sanctioned events for at least one year. So a pro can be reclassified as Amateur if he sits out for a year.

I'm not sure if the player has to petition for the drop (pleaseohpleaseohplease Chuck.... ) or there's a limit to how many classes you can drop. Baca's probably right - if you're an Old Skool baller (or just old like Steve), you can probably be reclassified at a lower level.

Revised pro list:

Avalanche
Bad Company
Brass Eagle All-Stars
Bushwackers Int'l
Dynasty
Image
Joy Division
Lockout
Murder Inc
Naughty Dogs
Nexus
Redz Factory Team Black
Russian Legion
Shockwave
Syn
Team PPC
Team Rage
Team Strange
Tontons Flingueurs
Wone Concepts Factory Team

Therefore I'm changing my picks to:

1. Dynasty
2. Russian Legion
3. Strange
4. Naughty Dogs

With the addition of Strange, Shockwave, and Dogs the tournament has definitely become more interesting. Wish the NXL guys could play there.

Deserved to win???

The team that won AMB, Just Red, won all their games!

I will say that makes them the champions?
