Finally Tiffer lets just say you got this one wrong
I'm not afraid to be wrong and I will hold my hands when proved so.
I asked for clarification and surely we as a community have that right.
Pity it's gone this way as it seems flawless as a raffle system.

to be fair i'd reckon the biggest reason would be the fact that these are actually classed in a legal sense as essentially unlicensed (and therefore illegal) lotteries.

unless p8ntballer wishes to obtain a license from the LGC and have all lotteries independantly verified, they are, technically breaking the law and liable for a very big fine or imprisonment.....

.

I didnt think there was an issue unless the prizes involved were cash.I had thought about this is the past though.I thought the term Lottery reffered to a cash prize game and a raffle is for a non cash prize.I really doubt what you are saying here.

i'm running this past my brother-in-law (a lawyer specialising in crimnal defence and business law)....

but it would appear that if the "lottery" or raffle is held purely on the forum then it is considered private as it is only available to members of the forum and not to the public at large. some of the other conditions in general may apply, but he can think of no reason why as these would be neither society or local authority lotteries.

also there would be appear to be no legislation against private auctioning either.

i should hear back by lunch....

I havent read the legislation or know much about gambling other then its good ol' fun. But surely if the national lottery is regulated with its independent adjudicators then surely it is legal to have a bet on the outcome of this legal lottery??

Can some one check that out??

the main point accoring to andy (my brother-in-law) is that these raffles may not need to be covered by any legislation at all. they are private and therefore exempt from requiring a license. what he needs to check is the extent to which the other rules may apply (for example - max ticket price £2, all tickets must be sold at same price, etc...)

yes i have - as i was not aware of the private lottery exemption unitl speaking to my brother in law.

and it seems it is the value of the prize fund - both material and monetary that constitutes part of the legislation. although private lotteries appear to be exempt from this too.

of course i could be speaking rubbish (fair cop if i am!!) but as i said though - my brother in law is looking at this and i should here back from him around lunch.
