Until further notice no more Lottery/Raffle Prize draws will be allowed on this site.
There has been some questions raised and until these have been cleared up to the satisfaction of the moderating team, we feel that it is wise not to sanction the use of the format to sell on this site.
Should this situation change you will of course be informed.
We ask that all existing threads must be completed by end of Nov.

I am not really sure what you are getting at Tiffer, however this has been discussed at length by the moderating team, and for the time being it is for everyone's benefit.

I shall explain and this is my opinion only.
Impulse raider created by far the best way to decide the outcome of the increasingly popular auctions, where there can be no trickery or slight of hand.
The only way it appears to falter is when people delay payment.
The O.P is a prime example of this, due to his delay he got a bit of a ribbing and he got rather upset, which is clear in his posts.
Taking these facts into consideration it does look like "sour grapes",and it would surely have been more pertinent for another moderator to post up the sentiments.
All too often now on any forums moderators can exact revenge on any posts they don't agree with, hence my power quote.....
If this is not the case then please as I've asked enlighten us,all of us we are all part of this forum.

From Impulse raiders recent and still running raffle...

to be fair i'd reckon the biggest reason would be the fact that these are actually classed in a legal sense as essentially unlicensed (and therefore illegal) lotteries.

unless p8ntballer wishes to obtain a license from the LGC and have all lotteries independantly verified, they are, technically breaking the law and liable for a very big fine or imprisonment.....

i ran a couple of these myself and only after someone pointed this out to me was i aware of the fact.

Rider has hit the nail on the head.

It was myself who brought up the legality of these "raffles" in the moderator lounge and to be fair To Darkwarrior he defended them.Dark Warrior made the post to annouce the suspension of these raffles but that was just a coincidence.

Interesting thread

Atlast an interesting thread !!!

Yes created the lotto system because this was the only far way i could see a draw being done without any slight of hand, maybe there is a legal technicality to it and if so far enough .

As to a certain Mod and making it personal i infact do agree with tiffer, and have the infractions to go with it.

Mods have been given the stars for a reason to moderate , and i agree that sometimes more action is needed when threads over step the mark, but i would also like to say alot of old threads could do with some of there attention ;). example : Clean the Old Sxxt threads Out .

I like this forum and find the advice and most people on here friendly , but seems sometimes the B.S gets in the way .

My 10 cents worth ..

FREEDOM OF SPEACH ROCKS :D.

ps. if a ban is coming my way can you make it after saturday :(

Impulse I will answer the bit on the lotto draw bit.

The way it was drawn that you started was in essence an excellent idea and worked but there are lots of other rules pertaining to running a lottery/raffle that the forum has to look at.

If you really want to have alook at some of the rules regarding running lotteries and raffle I can pm them to you.

The forum has taken this step untill it can be proven either way if it is legal to run such events here.

I hope this clears it up a little bit.

Quick question as to the reasoning behind the auctions being banned?

I can understand the raffles due to winner/legal issues. I wasn't aware of any auction laws but I'm probably wrong?

Lets just clear something up here

I am 100% against the ban as I do not think its covered by legislation,
but I may be totally wrong, I ain't a lawyers or work for the gaming commission
Anyway the mod team discussed it and I was severely outvoted
basically because I cannot find any literature to defend my stance
and there is plenty to oppose it.
So the decision was made by the mod team to err on the side of caution
for both yourselves and the sites protection.

As to why it was me who posted the decision, that's quite simple
I was the first to see it, so I posted it up, giving a reasonable amount of time
for existing raffles etc to be completed.

If Impulse Raider is so aggrieved, then he can, if he so desires, refund my money
and I will take no further part in his auction and if he need be complain,
like all mods I have to ansa to Tendringloeb, Bhudda3 & Robbo
Finally Tiffer lets just say you got this one wrong
