Did someone just say that they use WD40 in their gun?
Brave man!
Maybe or maybe not, but it's worth a mention

WD40 has many uses beyond what you may expect of an oil, so it's worth having around

However one of its uses is not as a paintball lube
It would lubricate, but it would also eat orings, and not be too nice to some other parts

Pack tape (of various colours - it can also be used as an arm band or to colour your hopper), wd40 for some use, proper lube for your gun and batteries* (lots of them & ideally a battery checker)

* when something's not working start by changing the battery, and if it's still not working change it again. Never assume a fresh battery is good unless it works
Carry plenty of batteries and you won't need them. Don't and you will
Remember to have enough to cover gun & hopper, and the right types!

is putting electrical tape over the barrel a good idea for when it rains?
It will keep water out of the porting, but personaly I dont feel it is that effective, the small amount of water that will get in via the porting, and thus prevented from getting in by tape, would be negligable compared to that which can get in the end.

I think the paint is firstly affected by water getting into speed feeds, the into the barrel ports. When the ball tried to get past water droplets in barrel it's gonna squeeze past and mis-shape the ball so when it leaves the barrel it's aerodynamic form is worsened, the when it's flying through air it's hitting more droplets causing irregular spinning

Playing in the rain.... isn't that why rain covers were made? ;)
In case people don't understand your smiley:

No. Rain covers were not made for the rain
If it just covers the porting with no internal chambers then yes, if it has internal chambers with nothing inserted to muffle sound then yes
As they don't just cover the porting and include materials to muffle sound they are suppressors and are illegal in the us (unless you register and pay the tax on suppressors)
And they are not fooling anyone
