Players switching teams

Millennium Series Rules...

...as a complete novice in these matters I wonder if someone could please clarify this years Millennium series rules for me regarding players who registered for one team suddenly turning up and playing for another team?

...and no I wasn't there before anyone gets on their high horse and starts hurling unpleasantries in my direction...but I have just had a most intriguing conversation with a very good friend of mine who was, which is what prompted me to ask the question...

Hatts: apparently you CAN change teams but only once throughout the years series' (I think). You can't keep swapping time and time again. One change over then one back to your registered team.

Mark H: wooooo, that would freak me right out dude, no way on this earth would I be nice and cosy in a room of death.

Sounds like a recurring theme here, good tourney, **** accomodation and location.

I think Hatts was referring more to a guy playing for one team (that he's registered with) in the prelims then turning out for a different team in the semis the next day!

Not sure, but I really don't think that's allowed. We got caught for it a couple of years ago at the Birmingham Indoor when I played with Lightning. We were having a bad semi finals so Sam Keats offered to play with us (Banzais having bombed or something). Unfortunately he was still wearing his Banzai kit and got pulled off the field. Then I got shot in the back by my own player which left the team without its two best players, and everything fell apart from there.

Moral of the story - if you try and sneak a pro into your team mid tournament, at least give him a fake beard or something.

you hit the nail right on the head there Liz...but as it seems to have pretty much gone un-noticed or has been buried I wonder if those involved are just keeping their heads down until it's hopefully forgotten about...

I'd be kinda interested to see the viewpoint on this incident from some of the Millennium committee actually or at the very least from some of the more recognised names in the industry.

I'm not trying to stir up $hit guys, I just feel very strongly that while paintballers continue to carry on this way just to boost their own ego's no one from outside the paintball world is going to take us seriously and let's face it, the big money that is gonna take this sport that we love into the big time has to come from outside.

Everyone talks about wanting to see PB on television but every wipe, every screaming session at a referee, every player who deliberately plays on and every hotel room that gets trashed takes us one step further away from that. Paintball is being held back by ego's. The few who need to always look good, always be the best and will blatantly resort to cheating in order to do that are destroying the credibility of our sport, which is fragile at best.

The incident I'm referring to was a blatant breach of the rules for no reason other than the desire to win at all costs. How can we realistically expect those outside of the sport and the industry to take us seriously while we not only stand by and watch it happen but then do nothing about it....

Food for thought boys and girls.
(hmmm guess I shoulda posted this in "Speak Your Brains"...)

I aggree with hatts. When things like Hotels Rooms getting trashed are happening it doesnt give paintball a very good image.

Who was the player who broke the rules? Come on people, name and shame and screw'em if they can't take it. Maybe next time they won't cheat!

Erm

Aren't Goose, Big Sid an a few other guys on a disciplinary committee now? Let's stop tha big talk on tha board and see some action: put a complaint a writing and mail it to Goose. It's your series and you wanted a strong committe - tha Millennium have given you one so use it.
