With Mario on this one.....

I didn't hear many complaints about the marshalling, compared to some other more recent events!
Marshalling was fair and they stuck to the rule book.
This really is a first class event as I am sure the P.A League is.
The only problem seems to be the clash of dates and once that is sorted (this weekend), I'm sure you will see the PGI's go from strength to strength.

I RECKON.....

....You're gonna struggle to find any dates that dont already have a Millenium event , or 2K4 or MM/Koth on it already. The other dates are what you already have..!!! I've not included the southern series , as I dont believe many of the teams playing these series would be playing down south regularly anyway. If I'm wrong about that , sorry.

So what do you do..?? You could n't even combine the dates for the MM/Koth and PGI's , could you..?? Do you have the structure to run the whole lot on the same day..?? Either at the same venue or at two different ones..??

I know that using a large site , or by using two different ones on the same date you have a much bigger organisational problem. The main problems being , finding the extra marshalling staff to cover two tournies , and hiring enough sup'air fields to cover both events on the same day. All other cost would remain the same , regardless of the dates they run on. Only you know if its do-able.

I do know that the attendance would go up by a huge amount tho'. The clash in dates was the only thing that stopped us committing to both series , and I know theres a few other teams that think the same. If the dates were altered , I could see us making the trip to the PGI's every month aswell.

It'll be interesting to see what you come up with...

Cheers , Rob.

...just had a thought....

...Could you swap the dates around for the MM/Koth series , with the PGI 7's series..??

I dont think there would be that many 5 man teams ( especially Koth teams ) that wanted to play in the PA aswell ( is there..?? ) I know there are a couple of teams in both , but I think they field different squads.

I think you'd gain far more 7-man teams in the PGI than you lose 5-Man teams out of the MM/Koth.

Might be an option you could consider.....

Is this the first sign of how we have too many domestic events goin on in the year and unfortunatley it is the P.G.I 7's that is suffering for it there is far too many events going on and i think summat does need to be done about it cos it is strangling the U.K paintball scene and attendences are down at events that used to have teams comin from all over the country to play in them . I thik event organisers are gonna have to have a sit down all together and try and sort this one out cos it cant be doing any of them any good!!!

Clashing of dates one of the solutions would be to have the tourney on the same day as either the Dartford 7's or the SWPL i dont think there is many teams travellin up from down south to your events so it wouldnt be a problem with the dates clashing with them events. Tho now thinking about it there is Swarm and the Jags that play in the Dartford 7's.

As for the dates coinciding with the Millenium events not a bad idea until it comes to Campaign or Amsterdam or even the world cup in France these are just a few of the events that i can think of that alot of U.K teams like to play in.

Either way something has to be done to make sure your events are back as popular as they were before tho i think alot of people are in favour of a date change unfortunatley you can please some of the people some of the time but not all the people all of the time !!!!

marshaling complaints!

which one of the chameleons made a complaint at the last event?
comments were made on here and at the event about having a team marshaling on both fields, that had a team also playing the event. we didnt have any complaints about how they marshaled our game against either them or other teams at ancaster, even though we should be thier biggest challengers for the overall title.

many teams complain about the marshaling at events not just this one. cant deny that, but when they are commenting on games that they watched not just ones they played in, then i think this says a lot.

the marshaling wasnt my main gripe, it was one of my points.
basicaly i was trying to voice a view about how things have slipped in attendance and other things.

w.k.d has a very valid point about saturation of events.
healty competition is one thing, over kill is another.
it isn't just s.p.c events that are suffering from attendance. most events are seeing a downturn in entrants.
i personaly dont want to see any series fail. needs co-operation between all participants.

Just too state that the complaint bout the dead mans wasnt a complaint bout the marshals......but the the fact that the ultimate on that field and the event organiser ignored a rule in the Millenium rule book and gave the result to the other team because they wern t fully aware we were playing millennium rules. (short story version). The marshals on that fiel (mainly Kelly's) agreed wiv our plee. As regards to marshals it is f$%@~*g hard to keep up with everything that is going on because you only have so many eyes and wiv teams playing more and more aggresive and games being faster they are gonna miss one or two tricks. Consider in a normal day u will play say 8 games, do you play every one perfect or do u atleast make one mistake. So 1 outta 8 games aint bad. Now consider the poor marshal, they ref anything over 30 plus games, if they make 1 or 2 mistakes it aint bad, just a bit of bad luck on the team it happens too. Rant over, swopping the 5 man/ KOTH for the 7's date looks pretty cool too and wont p@~s on anyone elses fire:)

Firstly everyone is saying that all events are down on previous years...I only know of 3 events from last year still running...

(Euro/International events excluded)

Bullies Series 2kx
KOTH
SWPL

The rest are all new...
PGI Central 7's replaced MM's (correct me if I'm wrong, but if not its new)
Dartford 7's (New series in no way related to M25 Series)
PA League
Have I missed any that everyone talks about?

As for the saturation - we heard it over and over again on this forum in the off season. Then we had the series date war starting, and then - it turns in to a publication war with PGI signing up to the C7's.

(don't get me wrong - not having a pop at PGI, it makes perfect business sense, new publication run by the same people as a new tournament series its a possible sales blow, you have to counteract that)

The paintball tournament scene is all about business wether we the players, the bread and butter like it or not. And in all lines of business - not everyone can survive.

What would make sense to me is if one of the events took a leaf out of the SWPL book. These guys run from late summer through to January (?) does this not solve the lack of dates issue? What else does everyone play in the winter months?
