The problem with Marshalling is that most people don't want to do it. Especially if they are experienced players and KNOW how to do it.

A lot of the people who are doing it, are doing it because they are knew to the game, need the money. I used to do it because i couldnt afford to play more than once a month, it was one way of getting two bob and seeing some people who (hopefully) knew how to play the game.

I thought it would give me a better idea of how the game should be played (yes that worked) and improve my game (Failed there)

Rental marshalling is easier, less hassle, less work, pays as well and no one questions your parentage ............

One solution would be to up the wages but then we would have to pay bigger game fees. And who is going to want to do that?

Maybe we could all "adopt a Marshall" at each tournament? Keep him well supplied with refreshing drinks, invigorating snacks and some high brow reading material full of decorous young women who have just discovered how overheated they are when dressed ............ I think my team can have the Berk marshalling in field 2 at the Dartford 7's.

Instead of slagging them off for doing their best when we are not willing to solve the problem ourselves

Wonder if If having an Rosta for teams marshalling would help out?? Say for instance adding another leg to the laegue and every team in the league marshalls for a day, could split each team onto different fields so to avoid biased reffing, everyone gets paid and everyone does there bit to make sure there are plenty of marshalls!! Could put the more Experienced players on a field with less experienced players to help the flow and make sure the less experienced are not manipulated!

I know there are more issuesn than marshalling here but it could work?

personally Great point Ronnie , but i can see why there is a lack of Marshalls ? and thats because they take so much **** and stick from some teams , which is really not on teams if you get a bad call accept it , as it all irons out in the wash ,the next bad call could go for you , ? in your favour, our team marshalled all of bullys last year , but we have finished that because , you dont give up your sunday or a days balling to take so much **** as i see it too often.

if teams just accept the call, as the call stands and never gets changed Accept it .

give them marshalls some respect without them we have a bleak future as ballers , there will always be issues of bad calls etc .
