I just want to add that I really wish you guys the very best of luck. The guys rock, flat out rock, they have talent in spades and a team spirit that is just unreal.
Unfortunately I'll be off next Easter so I'll have to follow things from afar - VERY afar! but I'll be rooting for them.
So who is the final line up? I heard Wayne stayed with Kelly's? Where are you training too?
Hey Beak, thanks for the vote of confidence and support, you've seen these guys play and know what it's all about !!
The line up is as it was with Wayne continuing to play with his family on Kelly's and Sammy deciding much the same, that is, continuing to play with his brother Colby.
Good luck in Oz mate !

Mother, is that you?
Yep, I can kinda see how it would make existing team members uncomfortable, but I mean trials to supplement the squad, not replace them. B'sides, get into Nexus and it's instant celebrity - EVERYONE will know who they are, and we need some heroes mate.

1) We all know that over the years the majority of (certainly UK) teams have carried people cos they're mates, or they've always been in etc. I know this aint the case with you, but I feel Nexus could possibly be the first (?) team that follows the methodology used by pro teams in other sports: you're in cos you're the best at this moment in time.

2) I think also in a strange way, it kinda means the team belongs to England. ie anyone, newbie or old hand, has a chance of getting in... not just if you know the captain.

3) It could be argued it keeps the current team on their toes and still looking to improve; guards against complacency etc.

4) And, just perhaps, you might discover another 'find'.

5) In a strange way there's a level of consistency.... three years from now the current team may be tired. What do you do? Start a fresh? This way, you're adding each year?

6) Get a b team up and running as soon as possible. And go even younger.

Hey, what the fk do I know. But Pete, don't settle for half mate: pioneer.

Either way, I wish you and the team the very best of luck.

Hey Matt, your suggestoins go hand in hand with what we are all trying to achieve and that is the professionalising of our sport.
In the case of Nexus, I think it more important at this stage of events to consolidate the team rather than put into place a feeder squad that would just take up some of our resources and more importantly more of my time.

A couple of years down the road and with the complicity of all the team members, then it might be an option if only to fully immerse oursleves in what truly would be a professional approach.
For the moment I am 100% concentrating on the team's training regime and getting their mindsets right.
Most definitely we are at a crossroads in paintball, I would like to think I can go some way in positioning an English team at the forefront of this revolution.
Might sound a bit haughty and I suppose it is but that's what I want to do and that's what's needed.

Robbo... more questions

Since you have revealed some of the parts of what you, Sergei, Laurent and Richmond discussed in Orlando, can´t you tell us all of it! A lot of talk has been going on while you have been off the boards as to wether US teams will be present in Europe next year, as well as to what extent x-ball could be in Europe next year. What do you have to say about all of this?

Good luck with your team! With that big a sponsor package we will hopefully se a team that will have the financial backing to make it big in tha states in a few years!

However, if Millennium does go X-Ball, then we are going to need another player because X-ball squads are 10 man and we have only 9 at present.
We may well hold trials for another back player position who is young, fit and talented and just as importantly fits into the team but that has its own problems because players may find it difficult to try out for us whilst playing for another team, sorta smacks of disloyalty I suppose.
Oh Oh I'm young and fit and I can play back really well, can you fly me out so I can try out for that 10th spot? Please. Please. Please!

I can wish right?

Seriously though, I'm a very technical player, I can shoot both right and left handed. I used to play front, and I close out games really well. Please Mr. Robbo sir, let me try out!!! I'm all about training and playing technical with an emphasis on playing tight.

How am I doing on selling myself?

Crazzzy, well there's really not that much else to come out, I have outlined the main points in previous posts but to answer your questions :-

Firstly, the top US pro teams who are playing X-Ball, the likes of Aftershock, Ironmen etc, will be precluded from playing outside the X-Ball format and that includes the Millennium (as far as I know) but that does not mean they will not be playing in Europe because it may well be that after tonight's meeting of the PSP, where they finalise their plans for the assimilation of X-Ball, that Europe will be hosting their own X-Ball tournaments in what's to be known as the European Conference.
In the US, there will be five teams making up the Western Conference and five teams making up the Eastern Conference.
The American teams will each be required to make two trips over here and the same goes for us, each team from over here has to make two trips Stateside.
This will be known as the World Series.
Now all this is contingent on the PSP accepting the plans that some of us discussed over that meal in Orlando, if they are not, then I doubt whether X-Ball will be played over here as any other proposal would in my view, just have us playing second fiddle to the Yanks.
The creation of this proposed World Series consolidates the European standing in the game and assures all those who invest in X-Ball, a degree of security that just wasn’t there prior to our Orlando meeting.
All this could well end up just pie in the sky but there seems to be a groundswell of opinion within the powers that be over in the US and over here, that perhaps X-Ball is the future and on that basis, a lot of people are trying to create the right format and infrastructure that would give us all the best possible chance, both sides of the Atlantic, of attracting TV.
A World Series that hosted the Yanks, Russians and the rest of us Euros is an attractive package especially when trying to sell it to Yank TV.
All becomes clear on Friday morning !
