Pete, since you're back on the boards...

I think it should be safe to ask you a few things about your new team, Nexus. After all, I'm sure there are plenty of curious people out there (including me).
What are the plans for you guys? What events will you be playing? (stands to reason you will be playing Amsterdam :D ) What companies have you managed to get on board? (we know about Dye and Planet, but you'll obviously need paint too...)
You know, stuff like that. People want to know, since this could be one of the most exciting things for Euroball in a long time.

Just poke me in the eye if I'm being too nosy.

Hey Bud, it's good to be back.....I think..... :)

As for the team, well, I have heard a lot of bull about us over the past few months, some of which is laughable but to put the record straight, here goes :-

The team’s major sponsors are, PGI, RP Scherer, Planet, Dye and Halo.
We haven't had any trouble in getting sponsorship and have not been turned down by anybody as some idiots are saying.
It's just that we received offers from more than those companies already mentioned and we had to take what was best for the team for the long haul.
Without going into too much detail, the RP deal is by far the biggest deal ever achieved by any European team and I mean by a long way !!!!
The total sponsorship package that Nexus has is worth in excess of £100,000 when you combine all the sponsor programmes for the year.

And we still have one sponsor we are still negotiating with, and it is a negotiation to determine the extent of the deal, and this should be completed over the next month or so and may require me having to shoot over to the US for a bit.

As for how we'll do?
None of us are expecting anything this coming season, all we are going to do is train, train and train again.
If the occasional good performance comes along, then great, but all of us on the team know it don't come easy and it don't come quick.
We have the talent on the team, that's for sure, hopefully we have the expertise to drive and direct that talent, which remains to be seen.
None of us on the team are predicting anything and yet some people who know diddly squat about us are writing us off and yet, that view is not coming from the vast majority of paintballers over here, it is apparent in a very small, self-interested minority.
As for the US when I was there, I had nothing but 100% interest and support from people who just came up to me to say they thought it was a cool idea and wished me and the team luck and looked forward to seeing us play over there.
Sergei has invited the team over to play in Moscow with the Russian Legion and we'll be making the trip over there in the coming months, in fact, I think we are going to make the trip twice.
That should be fun.
We are trying to take this seriously, we are training four full days per month at the moment, we'll see what happens over the coming year !!

Hey Chip, we will be playing pro, both here in Europe and over in the US, it's the only way to go if we are really serious about getting to the top.

How many NPPL/PSP/Whatever it'll be do you guys plan to attend next year?

That probably depends on which way the Millennium are going to jump with regard to X-Ball.
I just spoke to Laurent, Niall and Sergei and it would seem that no decision is to be made, leastwise by us Euros, until after the meeting of the PSP this Thursday in Chicago where they will finally decide on the X-Ball take up option.
Richmond told me on Monday that Jerry and one other of the PSP have already agreed in principle to the series organisation that Laurent, Sergei, Richmond and myself came up with at that meeting in Orlando.
This proposal locks into the series, a European interest and security that was not present prior to that meeting.
It benefits both sides of the Atlantic, both in terms of financial potential and also of team status.
The fate of Euro ball hangs uneasily in the balance......on Friday, it's fate will be known and Laurent, I think, will be making a statement after a consultation with Niall.
As I've said before mate, we'll see what happens but if it all does come off, each Euro X-ball team will be making two US trips and these do not include the World cup as this is the final play off venue where only the top four teams from the European conference will be eligible.
This proposal also makes provision for I think, four Yank teams to make the trip over here to every Millennium X-Ball event.

So, I cannot give you an answer yet Bud but be assured, as soon as I know, it will be up here :)

Pete (& Nexus),

I just want to add that I really wish you guys the very best of luck.

The guys rock, flat out rock, they have talent in spades and a team spirit that is just unreal.

Unfortunately I'll be off next Easter so I'll have to follow things from afar - VERY afar! but I'll be rooting for them.

So who is the final line up? I heard Wayne stayed with Kelly's? Where are you training too?

Here's a question.... you put the team together via trials. I know you were thinking of holding open trials once a year for the forseeable future, is this still the case?
Hey Matty, there is no way I would even consider holding yearly trials as this would undermine the confidence and stability of the existing squad.
I have found the guys I am looking for, I can't get no better, if these guys fail, then it's my fault and certainly not due to any shortcomings on their part.
However, if Millennium does go X-Ball, then we are going to need another player because X-ball squads are 10 man and we have only 9 at present.
We may well hold trials for another back player position who is young, fit and talented and just as importantly fits into the team but that has its own problems because players may find it difficult to try out for us whilst playing for another team, sorta smacks of disloyalty I suppose.
Don't really know what we are going to do yet but Ledz and me will work it out I'm sure.
Anyway, you are one of our major sponsors, you tell me !
