Why is everyone against these 'stands'? Do you not know that most tourney-ballers started out on days like these?

Encourage these people - don't slate them - they are the future of UK paintball!

"Bigger picture" people.

There was a stand at the Gallerys in bristol the other week advertising rec days.
I must say I had alot of fun questioning the guy with daft questions while stading there in my ECLIPSE hoody and cap.
He never twigged, and couldnt understand it when I asked if everyone played dead when shot.:D
I only let on when he tried selling me some tickets. I then got dragged off by my Mrs to buy her some more shoes!!!

OK - so your average sales person doesn't know anything about tournament paintball! Wonder why that is ?

i agree 100% there is no reason for us to be against these stands they introduce new players.....but at the same time i would expect a sales person to have the slightest clue what he was selling.
for example if a guy were to come up to you and try and sell you the latest nokia mobile phone, i would expect that when you were to say no thanks ive got a sony phone that he would know that sony also make phones or indeed that other brands exist at all. The problem with these stands is that the people on them havnt got the slightest idea what they are talking about and with that in mind how can they be expected to convey the correct information about what they are selling.....they are selling 'machine guns' for hire basically and that is exactly how they are selling paintball to the public.

Isn't that what appeals to the majority of people who go ballin for the first time, a chance to shoot up their mates? It's certainly how Twisted started.
The people on the stands know about the product that they've been hired to sell.
It's like saying that the little old lady who bobs your bettaware catalogue through the door should know all about 'extreme ironing' simply because she sells you a jml ironing board.

Don't forget that these 'minimum-wage/cash-in-hand' people only sell what they've been told to sell. A bit like the people in call centres who tell you you've been granted credit for a new 2nd hand car. They follow scripts - and only do what they are paid to do. Try asking them about specific models and see what you get.

And Collier is right (for a change :p) - the 'attraction' to paintball is the chance to act like action man for a day (and maybe shoot your boss).

The reason behind that? Simple, it's the only thing people 'know' about paintball!

Why not set up your own 'tourney-ball' stand? Take your latest shiny stuff to show off. Then, when JP (Joe Public) ask you how much it costs to play for a day (yes - a full day) - try to tell them quickly - as they run off!
