they had a ministry of paintball stand in broadmead in bristol today ... didn't look very appealing to me =/

Why is everyone against these 'stands'? Do you not know that most tourney-ballers started out on days like these?
Encourage these people - don't slate them - they are the future of UK paintball!
"Bigger picture" people.
Isn't that what appeals to the majority of people who go ballin for the first time, a chance to shoot up their mates? It's certainly how Twisted started.i agree 100% there is no reason for us to be against these stands they introduce new players.....but at the same time i would expect a sales person to have the slightest clue what he was selling.
for example if a guy were to come up to you and try and sell you the latest nokia mobile phone, i would expect that when you were to say no thanks ive got a sony phone that he would know that sony also make phones or indeed that other brands exist at all. The problem with these stands is that the people on them havnt got the slightest idea what they are talking about and with that in mind how can they be expected to convey the correct information about what they are selling.....they are selling 'machine guns' for hire basically and that is exactly how they are selling paintball to the public.
