I can see both sides of the argument here, but I think banning it is a bit of a "nanny state" move, and rather we should aim to make buyers aware of the choice they have and the implications of that choice. It's in the forum sticky, but perhaps as a compromise the onus should be on the seller (if they are offering payment as payment owed) to ensure that they provide a quick rundown on what that means in their post? ie

my super amazing ego £260 (payment owed, or add 4% for paypal fees)

note: payments made as payment owed are not covered by paypal in the event of a dispute
Simple, makes sure new members are aware of risks without removing choice, and it's enforcable by mods.

So I vote no.

the way i see it,

when you have a car, you get it insured,
when u post something, you generaly get it insured,
you get home insurance and pet insurance,
i could go on but i wont,
anyhoo, if you dont care enough about what your buying to add on 4%, then its your own silly fault.

however the reason im voting no, is that when you know the people your buying from, then there isnt realy much need.
i recall buying a bottle cover from lump, i payed as owed as i felt i could trust that i would recive it soomthly, which i did.
other occasious would be if i have bout from the same person several times,
but in general, i would add the 4%

im done now :)

I've not bought or sold anything on here for a while but when I do sell, I tend to price the item at what I want for it including the Paypal fee and RMSD.

If a buyer isn't happy with my price, then they don't have to buy from me.

I've been using Paypal for a good few years now and don't have a problem with the fee. They provide me with a service and like most other companies out there, they charge for it.

And Pigeon, try this: http://www.rolbe.com/paypal.htm

I voted yes by the way.

I voted no as it keeps costs down and i only buy from trusted sellers anyways, or people that i have came to known on the forum. :)

It should be up to the buyer either if they have the option such as paying or sending owned. :)
