now do we ban the the option of buying good as personal payment owed etc ?

as it seams that all buyers do not care if they sell faulty goods ?

i voted no as on the forums its a way of keeping the prices down and in return more goods are being sold...would not do that on ebay though or if the person has a bad feedback/rating on the forum...tincs

The only reason I use "Personal Payment Owed" when buying is because I dont know how to work out the 4% you need to add to the payment to cover the paypal fee!

(I was never good at percentages in school :rolleyes:)

Personally I think that 'payment owed' is fine so long as the buyer is given the choice. In any of my sales threads I always leave the option of either and have never had a problem.

Either pay the 4% fees or send as 'payment owed' or if the seller is feeling generous then they can soak up the fees themselves. (not me cos i'm a tight a$$ git:cool:)

If people are having issues with not being able to get refunds etc due to sending as 'personal payment owed' then maybe they should read up on the process before agreeing to use it. I guess it has its pros and cons as do most things.

Just my two cents worth.

percent..............one part in 100

1p = 1% (one percent) of a pound (100p)
2p = 2% (two percent) of a pound (100p)

4% (percent) = 4p every pound, 40p every ten pounds.....................................................................:eek:

I learnt that in junior school, and i was under ten, that's 10% (percent) as i will live to be 100.:p

If ive bought off ebay, ive just paid the amount as stated and not worried about it. Yes I know how to click goods, but as I said I didnt know how to work out the 4% to add to the payment to cover the fee, as many sellers request! Ill only buy off someone with a good rep!

Thanks Tom!

Basic lesson learned! ;)

I understand the fundamentals of percentages, but im not sure how to work out the 4% of say £17.65 for example. ;)

I've voted no.

Like chEf^ stated, It should be up to the buyer weither or not to absorb charges, or go for the cheap way, I generally pay with the goods option for piece of mind - but if there feedback is longer than i am tall, i'll generally pay with payment owed.

I think banning it would just cause grief - it should be down to the buyer, but then again they shouldnt pull out the ''mods, this guy stole my money *sadface*'' card if they get jacked.

70p btw pige.

To add the 4% onto £17.65

multiply the amount by 1.xx

xx being the percentage. eg. 1.04 is 4 percent

So that's 17.65 x 1.04 = 18.36

But as i said it's 40p to every ten pound and 4p to every pound so that's 18 x 4, or 8 times 4 + 40.

You don't have to be spot on here, it's not like your life depends on it.

And yes i can do the maths on countdown

I think it should be up to the buyer. If I know the person, have dealt with them in the past and they were good, or know they have good feedback and are generally reliable, then I have no problem sending personal payment.
However if there is any doubt then I am happy to pay the 4% for insurance.

I think it's stupid when people put "use personal payment" on sales threads, as it makes no difference to them if the buyer pays 4% or not, they still get the same amount.
