Sponsorship does not necessarily mean that you will get things for free.
Price assistance is still support and therefore by definition sponsorship
I think the term you're actually looking for is incentivised buying discount. The only thing you need do to get access to this is buy stuff in bulk. Being deserving has FA to do with it (as has been witnessed by certain teams).

RELENTLESS, do I need to say more ??? All of you are drinking it and most of you know us because we are Relentless :D

I think Relentless will have better exposure to paintball mokeys like yourself by having team right in the people faces. Plus it is great dring with lots of new flawours and quite a good quantity. 500ml can wil give you more than little Bull...

We do our best to promote them, by traning hard and playing harder. Our results also help so people notice us. Last year this time Relentless in essence did not existed...

We our best to support our sponsors by always reminding people that we exist. Not only for Relentless but also for www.Slothball.com, lot of people are asking for purchase advice and thank to Jamie from www.Slothball.com we can point them in right direction.

And everyone can see we are shooting best equipment we can get our hands on check it yourself www.dyepaintball.com :D

Basicaly we are trying to help build Relentless brand in Paintball world...

Tommy, Loving the speech, but may i ask (and you dont have to answer)

How did rentless become a sponsor for you? Do you have a guy on the inside or did they bring an offer to you?

I only say because most teams are sponsered by paintball companies for gear etc. But i always wondered if i talked to say Ornage (as they seem to get everywhere) or Other big brands to see if they would get involvoed.. you know say whats £2000 to them to get some more advertising etc...

You have to sell yourself and make very clear what will you bring them, what benefits will they have from you. (brand awareness mostly)

People have to start realise that only outside sponsorship will give them major benefit. Paintball shops and sites are on very small margin contrary to anyone’s believes. They don’t make as much off you as you think.

So think outside the box, who would benefit from sponsoring your team? (bank, phone suppliers, any national company seeking wider market such as gas, electricity, car dealer perhaps)

Try not to agree cash, budget your season to absolute detail, show them what are you spending on and what will you like to have covered by them. (flights, paint, green fee, equipment)

Our budget was so detailed we were able to show everything from travel expenditure to our underwear :D

That way they will never have to give you cash but can buy stuff for you. (there are certain tax advantages) You can agree £1000.00 month expenditure.
It is not much for large multinational and they are not giving cash to you. (obviously it can be less, or more)

Think outside the box !!!

As to your question we have our contacts :D
(Although some mocked us last year for it, as apparently certain someone know lot of people in paintball and putting Relentless on our tops does not make us sponsored team :D anyway the top Relentless bloke in UK might disagree)

We train like crazy to make them happy, and we know it is and it will pay off.

In between us we have lot of commercial experience on top level management and to be honest it helps a little :D

What can teams give back? An enforced brand loyalty, whereby you give the team a discount to encourage them to continue buying from you, with the threat of the discount being withdrawn if the customer is unfaithful. For 90% of teams, that is all. There is very little added value that any but the top teams can bring to a paintball brand in their own capacity. A domestic Div 2 team will not increase a paintball brand's exposure in any tangible way, so the concept of sponsorship makes no sense.

Now it's possible that outside sponsors can find value in lower-ranked teams, by showing their name by any means to an audience that otherwise would not see it, but on the whole paintballers have no idea how to sell themselves, either to potential sponsors or to a sponsor's target audience, and any marketing exec worth his corner office can spot this a mile away.
