I have been in this game for coming up to 17 years I think now, I have played at every level the sport of paintball has to offer, I have seen more games of paintball than I care to mention, written more articles than I care to remember, and won more trophies than my big head can look at.
The whole point in me bringing this crap up is not to indulge myself; it's so that you guys reading can give some credence to what I say.

Tyger is talking absolute bollocks, make no bones about this, he might well dress his posts up with quasi-reasoning and are grammatically well written but in essence, it's utter crap.
When he sticks in-house and just concerns himself with rec-ball, his posts are ok but as soon as he ventures into tourney-land, or as in this case the relative skill merits of modern tourney and yesteryear's woodland paintball, his own petty jealousies surface and he loses hold of reality and comes up with posts that basically are ridiculous.
Now for those of you who are not so well versed in paintball, it may appear, he is making some valid point, but believe me, he isn't.
The man is talking crap !!!
And as many times as he keeps spouting crap, I am gonna just keep coming back on here and letting everybody know.

You know, Robbo, even if you are tired of having the same debate with Tyger, there are those who would benefit from seeing it spelled out. New members of the forum don't always go through the archive to get up to speed.

It doesn't seem like it would be beneath you to correct misconceptions. You may not change Tygers mind, but this is public debate, with a potential victory for each version of truth in each witness.

If you feel that it is just the organ grinder calling you to another public performance, you could always ignore it. Me, I like to dance.
But its been done to the death, if anyone needs it spelling out all they need to do is to use the search button!

I wrote a long reply. I decided against it. I'll just say this.

If Pete says it, it must be true.

Lord knows I'm just a lowly rec baller who should kiss Robbo's feet becasue he's so much more intelligent than I am. His extra 4 years in paintball make him an expert in all aspects of the game. So if Pete says I have an agenda, or I'm slamming tourney players, or I'm full of ****, then who am I to argue?

After all, whatever I say is pretty much meaningless because he'll just use his powers of editing other people's posts and re-edit whatever I say to read "I'm a dick" (Which he's done before).

I will let your posts stand as testament to your madness and my contention that you are the nearest thing to a human colostomy bag (full of ****) still stands, live with it !

But...

Football hasn't changed very much either. But modern teams have improved their games incrementally even without a format change.

I suppose you could say that paintball players don't train as hard or in as refined a manner as NFL or college football teams, but they still have a strong pressure to beat the teams that beat them last year. Trying new things, improving coordination... none of that is static. Even the things that remain the same become more sophisticated in execution as time goes by.

The Werewolves players did play paintball in the interim from when they retired the team to when they entered the IAO, didn't they? Or at least researched what changes had taken place and trained to adapt? It is hard to imagine them coming cold from retirement and "wiping the walls" with the other teams. Did they dominate teams back in their heyday?

Pete :

Just because you can't stand to be out-done by anyone does not mean that you are always right. Plus, it does not always mean that anyone who disagrees with you is "full of ****". Your "MO" is to pounce on anyone who you think disagrees with you, go on the offensive, and use all the weapons at your disposal to NOT attack the issue, but the person making the issue. This isn't debate, it's attepmted character assasination. See above for eh ultimate example. "Step into line with my line of thinking or you're full of ****." you cna't STAND to think that someone on the board isn't in the "Cult of Robbo." Especially somoene who's a rec-baller.

Seems to be a common thread with you. Excrement. Can't you at least vary it up? I mean, tell me I'm a ****head or something? Just to show me you're trying?

But, to move forward in the discussion and not worry about PEte's brused ego :

Gyro : Football has been around for almost 100 years now. If you take a 1920's football team against even the '02 Bengals, yes the Bengals would win. But you're talking 100 YEARS of evolution. What we're talking here is TEN. 10. a decade compared to a century of improvement.

In TEN YEARS a game, any game, does not signifigantly improve or change. And that's the time frame we're using here. Hence, a '92 team, wiht the same equipment as an '02 tem, would compete just as well.

Talk to me in 50 years. THEN we'll have a grand debate!

And since I have 1 minute to say it on today my time, happy birthday to me. :)

blimey, its like a hippo fight, (lots of posturing), ( not saying your fat either) i am new to the modern paintball, when i started about 92, they where called paintball guns, pump action things at most or all rec centres, but now adays you get given a semi auto marker. im going to say my piece but only because it is my opinion, i loved the old days crawling in the woods pumping for every shot, i loved the newer days crawling in the woods not having to pump for every shot, and im looking forward to when i next go out with my new marker to try and whoop some ass. and i want to try this sup air tourny stuff looks fun.

the skills in the woods, i belive where different, i imagine when i first step on a sup air field i will be whooped, technology advances and with it so does the person," survival of the fitest"

if you dont change to your surroundings you will loose!!!

woods was long, slow, great fun
woods is now long, fast, great fun
sup air looks smaller, faster, great fun

please dont shoot me down in flames, i love the sport.
