Yes is was

The safety book went straight out of the window very very fast.

My missus and I was screaming at the telly "Put your goggles on" It was a complete joke, if we hadn't know about paintball I would of been totally put off.

I know it wasn't down to you lot but if you knew it would of end up like that you probably wouldn't of done it!!

OK time to wheel out the usual statement regarding this kinda programme.

It does not matter what site/supplier was involved, just be grateful they were involved.

If they were not, then the director probably would have run riot with his 'creativity'.

Most TV coverage is quite good, even these examples, as the injury was not directly paintball related, and I would guess whoever provided the kit would have made sure that the director realised this, we don't want injuries caused directly, like the old biker grove thing years ago. We have been involved in many TV/film projects and as long as you are their to make sure what they want to do is done in the safest enviroment possible. That is all you can do. If they did it without some site operators assistance, it would have been much worse!

It was on TV, several people would have though to themselves 'I always wanted to try that, I book one tomorrow!'

Their memory was jogged, and it's the rental customers of this world that make the big wheel of paintball nicely oiled.

I don't think they did have help, that's why I asked the question.
I don't think you saw it, for I doubt you would defend it if you had.
As a paintball site manager, I agree that any time paintball is on TV it can bring in some extra customers but I think in this case, it will put more people off playing than it would attract.

I thought Byker Grove highlighted the severity of goggle lifting quite damn well!

Lift your goggles..... get both your eyes shot out.

Moral of the story..... dont lift your goggles.

I didnt see the program last night so cant comment.

to people who play it was proberly the worst thing we could have seen, but at the end of the day NO ONE GOT hurt!!! (falling over a dog does not count!)
yes the goggles shoulds have been on at all times and there shold not have been people watching near by without any safety netting or goggles. but if that wasthe first time you ever saw paintball it looked like fun and people willl want to play because of it!!!
i have been playing for quite a while now and my better half had no interest in playing, she has watched many dvd's showing tounry ball and that has not made her want to play. but after seeing that last night she wants to give it a go.

now what needs to happpen is when all these people go to a site its up to the operator to give a propper safety talk to outline the dangers of not wearing protective gear. i know every time i play the emphasis (crap spelling) is all ways about safety.

when playing rec ball with punters they get the 15-20 min safety talk, when they go on to the field the get constnatly reminded of the safety, this programmme did balls up on the safety issues but its only visable to those in the know!!!

you alll should be happy that paintballl was on tv on a top channel on at a good time!

feel free to flame away

well said! There is constant whinging that paintball never gets the media publicity that it deserves, yet when it is shown to Joe Public all you do is whinge that it's been shown in a bad light.

Yes, there was some glaring errors, only existing players would have noticed them, it was on prime time tv on a major channel so respect to whoever is at the BBC for actually choosing paintball instead of skateboarding or similar. If anyone of the right age group actually decides to give paintball a go after watching telly then let them and if they really believe you can shoot your gun out of the enclosure without a mask on then they aren't the type of people who we want to be playing anyway!

And if you want to really get down to it, the programme is aimed at old farts who used to watch Last of the Summer Wine so what were you all doing watching it in the first place???!!!!

now stop whinging and go play! :D

Bloody hell!

Watched said programme and was looking 4ward 2 seeing a bit of paintball on t.v,what a crock of s!@t!,to the regular viewer who knows nowt about p.ball,it all looked like a big laugh, but to us p.ballers(me),marshalls(me) and site games manager(me again!),the whole thing was beyond belief and might give the next load of customers who visit sites all over Britain some real stoopid ideas bout goggle lifting/point blank shooting etc!!sorry to moan, but this is sommat i feel strongly about!as it portrays my(our) hobby/income in a real bad light and if any1 knows where to send e-mails to the beeb complaining bout daft progs like this, please post it up and lets get some mail sent to the dumb asses who make progs like these, giving us a bad name, also enlightening the powers to be that its 1 of the safest hobbies you can do!.......................Frenchie:mad:
