As a nice column in PGI Said..( not quoting )
we need to decide together weather we go for Mountain Dew Or Coca-Cola.
I think a step in either direction is a step forward for modern paintball.
My names on the pettetion and i wish rapture-bliss and the society of paintball good luck with the bid.
But we do need to remember ( as stated beforehand )
We need to walk before we run.

Useless reply really..

Thanks for your reply skeet.

I have taken on board as much as I can from the informative replies Ive had, and can start to think of where I could refocus to get some results. Theres quite obviously alot to be done, but I think one of the most important things is having community backing. The petition is getting to the point where its not so much about making paintball an olympic sport right now, but showing that you agree we should be reaching for something more in this sport.

In light of that, keep signing. Not for the olympic stand point as much, sign to show that you agree that paintball needs organisation and that you, as a member of its community will support that. The spirit of this petition is in that intention; to create some form of unity that is currently really lacking. (Robbo's somewhere sniggering at this post, feeling an article coming on, i can just tell it :p)

Keep throwing ideas in; what do you think paintball needs? Now, and in the long run? And how you think it might be achieved? Is there a petition that anyone feels could be of use right now? I'll set it up and get the ball rolling on it.

Finally, going back to skeet on the X games; they are solo based events? The first thing to really consider is, is it open to team based competition?

The phrase "OFFICIALLY played in 110 countries" is an important one here. Paintball may be played in the UK, but the official sports body (Sport England) refuses to recognise it as a sport. Therefore it can't be classed as "officially played"!

Petitions have been tried before to Sport England (or their predecessors) and the UKPSF have traid and failed many times to get paintball recognised by them to no avail. And until we DO get that recognition from them, the IOC won't class paintball as a sport.

Theres a very good point Liz.

Until we are officially recognised in multiple countries, not just "played" but officially seen as a sport, then we can not meet the olympic charter.

Anyone have any information on what Sport England require for Paintball to become an official sport?

Talk to Steve Bull from the UKPSF (Bully on these forums). He's the one who has spent much of his time over the last few years trying (and failing) to get paintball recognised as a sport.

I think the last argument I heard from Sport England is that they only recognise sports on their list, and you can't get on the list until they've recognised you!

Lol, classic. Ok Bully where are you mate?! Anything we talk about I'd like in this post so its open information to the whole community; the more people involved, the more pooled skills and knowledge we have. I'll do some independant research as well, theres always a way.

Anyone know any requirements from Sports England or any other sports association? If we can get it recognised under any countries sporting list, then we can use that as leverage with Sports England. They will be more inclined to follow suit.
