I am a hands on guy to, so knocking on doors at 3am, and "seizing" equipement is not a problem for me, neither is a sack over the head or "alien abduction" type dissapearences.

Please don't take this as another American gun-nut response, but when I was 11 in rural Florida, my friends and I walked around with .22's and shotguns all the time. No cars, houses, or people were ever shot. Just a rabbit, quail, or an empty beer can here and there. What the hell has happened since then? Now a days I'd feel nervous about handing a pair of blunt-tipped scissors to a 17 year old.

I will tell you what has happened...due to a lack of discipline, we have spawned a generation, widely populated by degenerate yobs, of little use to society..and unfourtunately, because their bevhaviour is not "their fault" and must be "understood" rather than swiftly and ruthlessly punished, they can do as they please..
