One thing i've just noticed upon watching those vids a few times.....fair enough the hand switching thing and the 'snapping'...but why on earth is the gun on the left side (and in left hand i assume) when snapping out right and vice versa? When you come out for a snap-shot right, the gun should be in the right hand and using the right eye/side of goggles.

Kinda looks a bit wrong/doesn't make much sense...

i think you can do it like that (right hand, right side snap shooting) but the testing which is where the vids came from would off been played by someone that might not know how to play or understand paintball :p.

i noticed that as well.

I noticed the review the guy talked about switching the gun to the left side so you can come out the right side of your bunker. Because it LOOKS tighter on the screen (the gun is closer to the wall) he assumes it is tighter and has no clue.

Doubt it. Its got less than 2 months until release so it would be at the state where all features are implemented and finalised(beta) and it was being bug tested to death. Well....assuming these pics and previews we've seen recently are taken from a recent build.

PaintBaller630: I think to say that it will suck is kinda being too harsh. I doubt it will be utterly ****, it'll probably be a great deal of fun but I do that it will be flawed and not anywhere near as good as it could possibly be. As for it being a PC game...bah, so what? A paintball game needs to reach the mass market and generate interest in the sport like other extreme sports games, PC wouldn't be very good at all for that. Plus, if you want a game like this for PC then play DPB for Half Life or MVPB for Unreal.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Questions, asked by me, answered by a guy who works at WXP (developers of the game)

Ok... this one has been bothering me since I first saw it, cos i'm pedantic in that way.

It's about the snapping technique in the game. In the IGN feature on the game at http://xbox.ign.com/articles/552/552824p1.html
It explains 'All it takes to switch shooting hands is a quick button tap. From behind cover, this makes it possible to switch the marker into the left hand and then snap out to the right, exposing as little of your player as possible. '

This mistake seems to also be demonstrated by the videos with the report, which show the player with the gun in their left hand while coming out right. Right, either they don't know what they are talking about or you've made a bit of a boo boo in the game. Surely if you want to snap shoot correctly out of the right side of your barricade then the gun should be in your right hand (right side of screen) and vice versa for the other side? Could you help clear this matter up please and explain how the system actually works.

Also, I'd like to know how the firing of the marker operates. Is it a simple matter of one pull of the trigger = one shot, which would necessitate very uncomfortable 'walking' of the Xbox trigger (which it isn't designed for). Or does the the game implement a artificial way of achieving high rates of fire (with the faster guns) such as ramping or similar?

EDIT, REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION!: This is what I and many of my balling brothers on the other side of the pond NEED to know, as it's been causing a great deal of concern for us. Is there any news/ideas on a UK/European release date for this title? It's being distributed by Activision Value and I am unaware of a single of their games that has made it over here. I'm rather concerned that it may not ever come out over here, will it? And if so....when?

Thanks for your time, I hope you can answer these questions soon (i have lots & lots more)

1. When you snap, you snap in the direction that you can see in. This might look a bit different from their view of paintball to some people but it allows you to have a field of view in the direction you are going to snap. Take a look at the cover of the game and notice Greg's head position. He is snapping to the left, the marker is in his left hand, but it is held on the right side of his face. This is the way our game functions and the way Greg feels it should be implemented. The description in the review simply states the hand the marker is in incorrectly.

2. High rate-of-fire markers have a special mode that fires paintballs both on the pull and the release of the trigger, if you maintain a relatively high rate of trigger pull. It works really well and keeps the "semi-auto" feel of the markers while allowing high rates of fire.

*Update* Also, the faster markers have a very shallow trigger pull -- meaning you don't have to pull the trigger all the way to fire the gun. You can just kind of "fan" it about a millimeter and it will fire quite rapidly.

3. European launch of the game is guaranteed in our contract. I'll let you know the release dates as soon as I hear from Activision on it.

We currently have no plans to build a PS2 version of Greg Hastings' Tournament Paintball. However, our publisher (Activision) has expressed interest in making the sequel a multi-platform launch, after they see how successful the first game is.

Make sure you hit our web site for links to hands-on previews of the game, which is scheduled to hit store shelves on November 16th.

Such as new markers, maps, player models, etc.
Live upgrades (downloadable content) are planned for game 2, but I don' think you'll see it for game 1.

The single player character is separate from your online character. In online mode you can create any custom character with any gear you wish, or you may select one of the pro players with their pre-selected sponsored gear (some of which is only available on the pros, and is not selectable in the gear bag).
