where did all the skill go?

So basically what your doin is giving everyone bouncy markers and allowing coaching from the sidelines. Is this just not totally taking all the skill out of paintball?? Next we will be aloud to wipe 5 hits per game... :(
I think both changes are a very sensible ways of solving problems. It is getting too difficult to detect ramping/bounce so just limited everyone to a maximum rof. If anything, this levels the playing field so that skill (aside from simply firing fast) will actually mean more. Secondly, there is no way pb can be a sport that the outside world takes seriously unless the crowd can cheer/jeer/shout as it likes. Again, provided everyone has the same rules it will work fine.

There was an amusing thread on here about the Tigers game at CC where the last player popped up and shot his own player following a shout from the crowd. The result - players will have to play with skill and learn not to listen to the crowd

Sounds like another positive step towards better games, more interesting viewing and crowd participation. Also it gets rid of the need for marshals to penalise a team for a spectator (who may have nothing to do with the team) shouting out - always a dodgy one to inforce.

It doesn't take the skill away - it gives you a whole new set of problems/skills learn - croud participation is not always helpful
 ;)

The difference is the players in snooker or tennis arn't penalised for the crowd shouting instructions. I've seen marshals at toulouse spend more time telling the crowd to be quite because of potenial sideline coaching cheats than watching the actual game. This new ruling takes that whole problem away and takes the pressure off of the marshal as to whether he should pull the closest player or not. I mean if you were that way inclined your spare players could shout instructions to the opposition in the hope the marshal will start pulling them - very dodgy ground and a real knightmare for the marshal to try and make the right decision.

This rule allows the marshal to actualy get on with his job, the game infront of him.
