Russell Smith

The Paintball Association
Following discussions earlier today the Paintball Association is pleased to announce that for the 2005 season all six rounds of the Motorola Paintball Association National League will be filmed for showing on the Sports Nation programme's to be screened on Sky Sports 2, 3 and Extra later this year.

In line with it's continuing efforts to promote the sport of paintball in both the UK and Europe, the Paintball Association is continuing to speak to potential sponsors with a view to filming an independant series of 1 hour programmes dedicated to the league itself and also additional coverage for both the Paintball Association Cup and The Six Nations Tournament scheduled for later this year.

Further details and updates to follow shortly.

Hopefully the increased exposure in conjunction with a few changes to operating procedure will be a big lift for UK 'ball this year.

As we're allowing cheering from the side lines this season it should make a noticable difference to the atmosphere at an event. With all 6 rounds being televised it would be really nice to see some spectators turning up and cheering their teams on. I know Leciseter Wildcats (no "e") are planning a "picnic" day out for their supporters club :)

The production company are both excited and very keen to work on this project. When we filmed R3 of the 2004 season it was a new experience and a very steep learning curve for everyone That first programme was never really intended as more than a very basic introduction to the concept of tournament paintball and to see what kind of response and/or interest it would generate from the professional sports media.

The PA, the producer, the director, commentator and even the camera guys all have new ideas on what they'd like to do this time around and with 6 bites of the cherry we should have a product that's both exciting and informative before we get to the PA's "6 Nations".

Just a quick reminder for PA players to get their names on their shirts and preferably their PA ID No.'s as well in a prominent position.
