The guy says his Wargaming should technically fall under the definition of a sport... I dunno how he plays it but I don't see the physical exertion element being big at the Games Workshop HQ here in Nottingham! <- that had no relevance whatsoever, and as I type, it may become apparent that none of this post will, but I'm bored...

Also, what's rapid running? He lists it as an actual extreme sport where there is a serious risk of injury or death?? I'm sure Paintballing must be more dangerous than just running fast? ;)

(I know)

found this definition on the net: "Extreme sports are those that may cause bodily harm if incorrectly practiced. " That would apply to PB. Then again it would apply to darts or snooker too if you practised them incorrectly enough!

Does it really matter if its classed as an Extreme sport or not?? Whats the big deal with a label, we all play the sport because we love what it is, its not going to make us change how we do things.
'Extreme' means includes an element of danger, hell, i used to shoot rifles, they are dangerous, does that make it extreme?
NO one should give a rats.

I think 'extreme' sport has nothing to do with what it is being done, but how it is portrayed.

It's nothing to do with injury really - I play rugby on weekends, definately higher injury rate than paintball (2 people broken bones, back injuries etc.) just this season. However it's not an extreme sport!

People take extreme sports to be different from the norm and usually associate them with things like you see in tourney ball. (Bright coloured clothing, strange headgear(!), shiny equipment)

I was riding my bike a while ago and came along a group of proper off road trail/mountain bikers, and was amazed that the clothes they wore looked exactly the same as paintball stuff, and the bikes looked the same style as paintball guns, and the helmets were styled the same as our masks.

Nobody really can define an extreme sport, I feel paintball is a bit extreme, because it is different, aggressive, and does hurt! ;)

Thinking about it, all an 'extreme' sport really is is a sport either invented or popularised by the MTV generation, just look at it, with base jumping, skateboarding, snowboarding etc. And the case is the same with good 'ol paintball, so i guess that, for all that it matters, paintball is.

peace :)
