yer it dont really hurt...

but the fear is there, just from not wanting to go out. You cant tell me you hav'nt stood at a start gate, and felt physically sick from the adrenaline rush........but its the not the pain your afraid of (like most sports) its the fear of letting your team down, and looking like a goober.
Also, paintball is much like extreme sports like snowboarding, im often trying to pull off the moves like diving, mugging, snapping etc. whilst throwing myself around, getting injured.
i snowboarded, and broke my arm:rolleyes: , but it was never as fun as paintball.
Laters,
Eric.

Nope, never had that. The only thing that goes through my head is the "knowledge" that I am better than the other team, and I will mow all before me.
When I get to the point where the game is on the way, and it's a direct confrontation between me and another player, all I think about is that the other one is going to leave the field early.
Obviously it doesn't always turn out that way, but hey...

I never get anxious, scared, or nervous. Not trying to be tuff or brag, but that's just how I work. Some sort of serenity comes over me...
I know a lot of players get that nervousness that you describe, but the same applies to a lot of soccer players (in fact, it would apply to most teamsports). Would you say soccer is an extreme sport? So that can't be what makes a sport extreme...

Jay is, once again, correct. The extreme in extreme sports is about physical risk of real injury--not oww, I got a bruise or a bump. (Except when I take one to the melon, then it's the end of the world. ;) :) )
Of course by that definition it must be an extreme sport to be one half of Seigfried & Roy or the pedaphile on Cell Block D. :D

ok i stand corrected. are you just a minority? or do others feel this way??
it depends on what my 'mission is' ie snake, 50 or whatever, to how bad it is, but i always get it.
Also, is that what it is, does it have to hurt, or contain real danger to become an extreme sport????
 Eric.

OK Buddha 3, what how would you class an extreme sport?

we are just tryin to explain what we think an extreme sport is!

I dont really know how to answer the question I was just puting down my veiws and what I thought an extreme sport is!

Buddha 3, yes I would agree that being hit only has a small amount of pain for a short while then goes away, but it's still a factor! in Rugby, american football and australian football it is difficult to not be hit and be taken down! hell most of the time you just get stuck right in there! where as paintball if your good enough you can avoid being hit!

ok heres one for people what sports are actually classed as Extreme sports???
as there are LOADS of sports out there but they arent all classed as extreme?

if we get an indication of what sports are classed as extreme sports we can judge better what paintball comes under!

Source: WordNet (r) 2.0

Attention to point number 2

far beyond a norm in quantity or amount or degree; to an utmost degree; "an extreme example"; "extreme temperatures"; "extreme danger"

Paintball is not the norm as it does not have quantity in numbers of players, and is not a normal sport in any degree.

It has limited danger due to safety precautions that are taken but still their is a risk, holding and being shot at by a marker is a risk (bottles can explode rare i know but it can happen, you can be shot in the throat or head that may lead to serious injury or death) all rare but it is a risk and we put allot of faith in our equipment being ok and that we are well protected in vunarable areas.

So to me it is an extreme sport :D

There are plenty of people who feel the way you do. A lot of people I played with ran to the toilets as soon as we got the gamefields and voided their bowels in an explosive manner.
Everybody has their own way of getting in the right frame of mind, none of which is better of worse than the other. If it works for you, it's all gravy.

Now, as for what I would class as an extreme sport...well, any sport in which you stand a more than small chance of severe injury or even death would qualify. So that would include the likes of vert ramp skating/skateboarding, high speed skeeing, certain forms of biking, and the list goes on.
If you use this definition you could also include sports such as American football and Rugby, but for some reason people refuse to recognise established/mainstream sports as extreme.
I feel the word extreme is being used in a way that it shouldn't a lot lately. A lot of sports that are "out of the ordinary" are heaped on the extreme sports pile, which is wrong.
Let's face it, extreme is justa fashion word at the moment, just like everything was turbo back in the 80's.
I think Nick uses the term adrenaline sport sometimes. That's a word I could very well live with.

Jasper, by your reasoning baseball would be extreme too :D
There's a bunch of guys wielding bats, so there's the chance of getting your head clobbered in. Everseen a batter get hit with a fastball? Gotta hurt. :D
Also, soccer would be extreme, as the stadium might collapse on you. Also, you might be mobbed by angry hooligans, while if you score an "own goal", there's a good chance you mightget shot when you return home to Columbia. ****, wars have started over a soccer match! And all you have to potect yourself from these very bad things is a pair of shinpads...:D
If I look at it this way, paintball would qualify as a "fluffy sport" ;)
