nick i have to disagree here the average boarder, snow or skate, is as exreme as the top level guys, i mean when joe90 from illinois sees tony hawk (i know he's not a current circuit pro nowadays) pull off some funky a ss move they try and copy it, then after a week in hospital they try again.....thats pretty extreme!Originally posted by Nick Brockdorff
.....Why on earth is Snowboarding or Skateboarding extreme sports then ?
I mean - at top level they are..... but the average snowboarder or skateboarder don't ride halfpipes or ride ramps...... for them it is really just recreational means of transport (albeit fun ones)

only because litigation has been kept away! imagine the number of injuries we all get that we just deal with, in any other sport they are major incidents!Originally posted by Sherman
Wasn't paintball one of the safest sports according to some insurance statistics? I remember even golf being more dangerous
I agree. I have skateboarded, in-line skated, downhill mountain biked, BMXed, wakeboarded, skied and still do snowboard as im also a snowboard instructor, all extreme sports that give you an adrenaline rush all the time you are doing it, its all a fear that something bad can happen to you. I have also played allot of football, cricket, golf, tennis and rugby they all feal different there is no adrenaline rush unless something is acheived ie: scoring a goal, sinking a putt, hitting a six, scoring a try or taking a vital point to win a set.Originally posted by NiceButDim
I thought when things are classed a Extreme sport, it has things in it which can be, Very fast paced, having adrenalin rush, a big factor of getting hurt....etc
you wouldnt have Golf or Snooker being classed as an extreme sport now would u
Thats true as on the old haybale field at the elsham site i popped my kneecap out to the side as i ran stright into a haybale if i had slowed down i would have been shot out and i wasn't gonna let that happen. I carried on with the game never moving from my barracade till it was over then pushed it back in got home 6 hrs later and went to casualty spent the next six weeks in physio. But thats all part of the game i did that to myself so i wasn't going to claim off anyone for my injury even though i could have.Originally posted by gaff

would be interesting to see how many minor non reportable injuries happen at an average tourney
