Football, cricket, rugby, hockey, basketball etc all of these games are popular as they have one central focus,
e.g. A ball
It is this central focus that allows these sports to be filmed easily.
Now i guess you could call paintball a 'ball sport'

but we mean that in a different way. If you filmed every ball in paintball (a la matrix stlyi, with millions of different cameras) then it would still be impossible to follow due to the speed at which the balls travel. Also a hit is the same size as a 10p coin and at largest a tennis ball sized splatter. No camera would be able to film this. Camera men would need the ability to film the whole playing area (ideally over head which i believe has been done) which makes it very difficult to do. For a non paintballer it is also very hard to follow, with the emphasis of snapshooting and other skills being on speed, most non 'ballers won't have a clue what is going on and how people got eliminated. 20 seconds games are no fun to anyone to watch either.
I didn't intend to write an essay but i guess i got carried away...
