On the game day registration. would only need to be a half hour + course. let it take place before the compys are turned on. only problem is for those that have no common understanding of english... or what we like to think is english :). if it is posted up on websites and is made common knowledge. and are there different ways that air is pumped? i mean ok on training sites it will be different. but for tournies surely it would make things safer? and what different companies are there that supply air? HPAC and....? im sure that air fill stations are managed the same way on european tournament series right?

thankyou for your comment. (hopefully another side to this rough diamond polished off).
Though H-PAC do many of the UK tournaments and they do the air for Millenniums, there are plenty of sites out there with their own compressors and different rigs can have different operations for both filling and venting e.g. levers, knobs that need turning.

And I'm afraid that I'm cynical enough to think that there would be a number of problems with getting people to take the training e.g. turning up too late to take the class (few paintballers are punctual in my experience), people who have been around for a while avoiding it because they already know it all (in THEIR opinion) etc - don't forget that the incident at a Millennium this year was caused by an experienced pro player!

aye but unless you have your card to show, (ID'ing system similar to that of bouncers in clubs), you cant fill up? thus almost certainly erradicating mini mushroom clouds near the hpac truck.

Proceedures (spelt wrongly)

day starts, 30 min tutorial done by HPAC staff or otherwise to those who need the proficiency test.

Photo cards issued. stating player name, age, and some other info that may be useful.

photo cars presented with a valid test tank

photo cards must then be presented to HPAC staff on filling up when asked.
playing pants have pockets, and lanyards work too. :). it is then in HPAC's staffs discretion as to whether they "ID" you or not.

not only will this give the guys at hpac something better to do than sit around and get sun burn or get wet but it will also improve the knowledge of the players on AIR and filling systems and safety. how can this be a bad thing?

i work at fireball gym when i can get people down there, now on monday i had a kid trying to use a tank which for some strange reason did not have a burst disk... sure we only use 3k psi and it was a 5k tank but damne he wasnt gunna use that on my watch.

im not clued up on filling air tanks, nor am i a compressor technician. and to be fair i rarely use the same set up each tourny, i borrow. so lord knows what has gone on before ive used it. i use trusted peoples kit only but if they dont know and arent knowledgable then they (inadvertantly) may cause my leg to blow up... id rather know that the dude next to me, whatever age, size or sex isnt gunna suddenly evaporate into a gory mess.

and i do value your critisism i'm just very stubborn sorry. ;)

i appologise for the spelling its been a long day of job hunting. :)

to be fair, you'll probably end up in a gory mess too if your standing next to him. :)

Stop digging a bigger hole for yourself.

There is no way a licensing program could a) be enforced, b) work and c) make any difference.

What good would actually come out of a licensing program as well?

not the licencing as such but the teaching behind it. it could be enforced but by the looks of the resistance im hitting... (a crazed luiggi brother) im not too sure. never mind eh? was worth a post. and mario i know youd like it if i blew up but as god seems to favour me over your sanity :D i think ill live a little longer.

the good would be that you would teach the baller how to A fill his tank and B not put stupid stuff in his tank. this then will make incidents even less likley. but like i said was just a rough idea.

weak....

Believe, it could not be enforced.

You gotta admit, pretty cool way to go, exploding. I had a conversation with a mate the other day about how we were going to die and for some reason i thought i would probably explode. Dunno why, just a feeling i have.

being over 18 means that you are leagly culpable if you cock it uk. the scariets thing i have heard of is a welder by trade talking about filling his bottle up with pure oxygen you know the stuff that will explode under presure when mixed with oil.
and this was a man who had to do health and safty courses for his job on this stuff
