we had orange, it was ok i guess. Now we have sky and its much better :)
There broadband is fine. The only snag i have with them is you have to use there routers, which outputs a very weak signal. Ive asked them to give me the info to input and use my own wireless router, but under there policy, its a no no...
Whatever you do, don't go with talk talk.

W@nkers.
Oh ****.....!!!
I do hope not, ive just signed up with them for 18 months for land line and broadband as a package for only £18 a month.
Get connected next week, will see how it goes.

Cooks, try Utility warehouse, we are with them and I cannot fault the service one bit, changed isp from sky to them, my connection speed increased 2 meg!, now running at just under 5 meg.

they supply netgear routers too, worth a look fella

Ive had orange internet since the days of 56k dial up. Thankfully i've been on there broadband package for the past 4-5 years now & the 56k days are long behind.
I can honestly say I have only had two interuptions in my service in all the time i've been with them and both where resolved within 24hours as they where nationwide issues.
I was going to switch to b.t last week (after many years with orange) because they offered me a cheaper deal including my landline etc. Orange had me stuck on my prehistoric tarriff of £17.99 for broadband up untill now:cool: and It was only after a B.T cold call almost had me suckered in, that I discovered Orange do an even better deal of £30 a month for the whole lot (internet, line rental free evenings & weekends etc) so Im staying with them now!!!

B.t offered me a free router and a load of stuff to make the switch but Orange has been tried and tested over years in my house and so far **touch wood** no real issues.

Hope that helps :)

GET OUT NOW

what ever you're paying, how ever cheap, ITS NOT WORTH IT

we went with talk talk, from day 1 we had really **** connection. constant drop outs, slow speeds. I wasnt even able to log into msn, because in the time that it would take to log in, my internet would drop out. thats both a testiment to how slow it was, and how often it dropped out. I counted 7 drop its in 3 hours.

called customer services to speak to a nice indian who suggested that we let it settle for 7 days... so we did. no joy, so we rang back up and they suggested we let it settle for 7 days. at this point we're 10 days into our 30 month ''opt out free'' period. so we politely told them we were switching back to bt, please cancel our broadband with you. and broadband only, we're more than happy with the phone service. ''ok, we're going to have to put you through to our it department before you can cancel'' ok.

and then we get simon. PRICK

''where is your router located?''
in the loft
is it on an extension?
yes
thats your problem
no its not.

Simon then proceded to tell us that what has been working for 5 years, is wrong and we need to change it. so we cancelled. or so we thought. que talk talk taking over our phone line and trying to charge us a £200 opt out fee. we then had to wait a month for them to cancel our line and for bt to be able to take it over.

it is the worst provider i've ever been with. hands down. get out.

At the end of the day you can either use Virgin Medias fibre optics, or your not with Virgin media and your using on BTs copper lines.

If its the former, it wont break down.
If its the latter, there are plenty of companies to avoid because they dont give a **** and the whole copper lines system needed replacing years ago in most areas.
Ive had exactly the same problems with Pipex as Dave experienced above. Where anything that doesnt match up with the script they are reading, is supposedly the problem. Even when it clearly isnt.

Pipex, Orange, Talk Talk etc are nothing more than agencies selling BTs broadband system at a slightly cheaper rate because they provide no customer service. They are all the same thing really.

The worst thing is, if they dont provide the service and you decide not to pay them, you can get blacklisted which means you have to wait months before you can sign up for working phone or internet with a new company.

We did it the Office of Fair trading way. Basicly sent letters to Pipex and the OFT stating the problems and what we expected to be done about it.
Got the full refund eventually.

Ive had 99.9% uptime since moving to Virgin media.
And its a hell of a lot faster.
And the router we got for free with the connection was a much higher end model than the one they advertise.
So im well happy with them.

Of course you may not have Virgin media in your area.
If thats the case then.... Gutted.

I'm with Orange and i HATE IT.
Serious. Peak times are the worst, streaming videos from various sites can take up five times the length of the video you are streaming. The "livebox" router is total crap, and i get about 4mb of a 8mb line on a good day.... and that gets shared between 2 computers, a PS3 and a WII.

The "Customer Care" service are idiots.
Took a dozen phone calls over the period of 3 months to get them to acknowledge me as the person who sets up all the systems within the household (as my mother was the bill payer they would seek her permission to talk to me every time, rather than just giving me privvy to the "contract" like we asked from the start)

They are complete Douchebags

I'm switching asap.

BTW cooks - i'm in south wales. So perhaps Orange's incompetence is only of major sufference down here.
