I would hope this isn't being seen as just another 'petty internet squabble' - I would hope it's a lot more serious than that because let's face it, barnett's behaviour is not only bizarre, some it is downright malicious and against the law.
The bit that gets me in these type events is people 'sitting on the fence', I just don't get it.
We are not gonna be looking at video evidence of barnett, we don't get that in this case.
However, if testimonial evidence is ok for a court of law in a criminal trial, then for the most part, it should be ok anywhere else.
I am not suggesting that every post should be treated as an inviolate truth, that's just silly, but when the sheer weight of testimonial evidence reaches levels such as in this thread; you'd have to be a complete idiot to think barnett is anything but as guilty as hell - the alternative to that is to believe every one of the people who posted their experiences here is lying - that's just plain ludicrous.
Common-sense has to rule the day, it has to otherwise there'd be no civil hearings processed in our courts because they work on the basis of the likelihood of a certain wrongdoing after all the evidence, testimonial or otherwise, is bought before the court.
Criminal cases require a different approach for varying reasons, and the most important of those reasons is because the accused can be sent to jail.
As a paintball community, we have no such powers but surely we can act responsibly and use our heads when it comes to the differing likelihoods such as, 'did barnett say and do these things', or 'didn't he'.
The amount of evidence in this thread is substantial and in some cases, it's chilling, and I'm pretty sure the people who have posted concerning barnet's vindictiveness and pernicious deeds would all be willing to put their accounts in a more formalised fashion should they be required.
For people to 'sit on the fence' is an insult to all the people barnett has abused in the past.
There won't be any video evidence, but there are people willing to testify concerning what he's done to them personally and we also have evidence of hundreds of people who read barnett's disgusting accusations against Pete Russell that were put on line by barnett, and yet these people who sit on the fence seemingly feel no responsibility to other individuals in our sport who could be treated in similar ways by barnett if everyone sat on the fence??
We all have a responsibility to try and safeguard our sport and its participants.
I've already used the Hitler as a metaphor in this thread but once again, Hitler rose to power on the back of millions of people sitting on the fence ... it's a dramatic and inappropriate comparison I know but there are similarities in character here that cannot be denied in terms of a clinical behaviour profile.
Can anyone who's read these posts not feel uneasy about barnett's pernicious attitudes and behaviours being allowed to roam unbridled in our sport.
If you decide to sit on the fence then you guys are welcome to him but don't come back after he's shafted you or something worse and then start moaning about him calling for some action.
We either make a stand and say, 'no fuhkin more' or you allow him to fester like an infection in our sport, and like all his sort, if you think he's bad now, if he somehow squirms out of this one, he's gonna be a whole lot worse second time around.
Our sport's lead must be taken from our industry, in a sense, they are our guardians here because we have no formal set-up with which to deal with people like barnett and so our industry has to man up and act ... if you have an association with barnett, cut it ... it's as simple as that!!!
If you refuse to do so then you are condoning everything he has done !!!
I might not speak for the industry but from reading this thread, I think it safe to say, I might be voicing the opinion of our ballers when demanding our industry disinfect themselves from barnett.
Mark my words people, mark my words !!!!!
