Markie, I'm afraid you are wrong mate whatever Ryan told you.
Dave Youngblood had called me and told me what was happening but asked me to keep a lid on it for obvious reasons.

Dave then phoned me to confirm the deal had been done and wanted to make sure all the BS rumours circulating down San Diego were put to bed.
This is a great move for Dye and a fantastic opportunity for Ollie and it was a deal that was completed the day before yesterday after some pretty lengthy discussions over some pretty cool beers.

Don't believe everything you have been told Markie as politics will sometimes rear its head in some answers you get when you ask certain people questions at the wrong time.

Now it could be that what you got from Ryan is right and what Dave Youngblood had already told me is wrong, Paintball is a weird sport like that but I know where my money is going on.

Makes perfect sense to me...Lang seems like a clever guy and he's watched the Dick Clarke deal die, watched NPPL not break big on TV, watched reunification hopes die, watched industry sponsor budgets contract...all these things don't paint the prettiest of pictures for a guy who is no.1 in his sport but knows he has a limited shelf life.

I remember Lasoya lamenting that he was born too soon and that the likes of Olly Lang would be making real salaries and that him and his peers would just miss out. Well I think Chris was over optimisitic timewise and Lang is probably thinking something along the lines of, 'If I don't act now I might end up a 32-year old with a lot of great memories and medals, along with shot knees, no money and no career prospects.'

Seems like a very smart move for both parties.

An interesting aside is his part ownership of Dynasty - given that he will be playing against the team he has a stake in in both main leagues, that raises certain questions and it will be interesting t see if the leagues address them - cos I doubt he would walk away from his stake in the team.

money talks...

Actually Ali, it's just because of 'friendship' this deal did go ahead.
Ollie and Dave YB have been extremely close friends for a long time and I don't think Ollie would have moved for any other person in paintball other than Dave.

And if you are inferring it's all about money, Ollie was made an increased offer to stay after he announced his intentions to leave and this was declined in favour of still going to Dye.
And so perhaps Ali, things may not be as cynical as they at first seem.

The coolest player in the world goes to the coolest paintball company in the world .... it's a marriage made in paintball heaven and one to Dye for.

not saying your sources are wrong just it seems a bit weird that no one from dynasty or dye are coming to say if its true or not.

who knows ?
Understand that buddy. But as the lin I posted above, Dave has confirmed it. On top of Pete saying the same thing, and combined with the fact that I heard the same thing from Dye, I'd say it was a done deal.

Dye are not the kind of people to announce something that they are not 100% confident in happening. I am sure Pete will agree with me.

Ollie has just bought a condo as I understand it, so I guess he has moved into it and away from the Dynasty guys.
Talking to Dale form the Jags today, I thought that Lang has obviously realised he has a limited shelf life, and needs to secure his future. Nobody wants to end up 35, and broke, with no skills. Paintball is his thing. He has to take advantage of it.

Personally, best of luck to him.
