Oh my god Mike ....... stop trying to blow smoke up Billy and Todd's ass ........ and if you are gonna mention Billy anywhere, make sure you get his name right mate, it's 'Ceranski' .....
Still, your post did make me laugh as understatement of the year in describing Todd and Billy as not being the media's sexiest players ........
With Billy being one of the most succesful players of all time winning more World cups than people can count, being described on many occasions as the 'best player in the world', as head of PMI Sales and Operations, he might want his name spelt right :)
I will ask him to come on and defend his case.

However, the words 'Todd Adamson' and 'sexy' are about as compatible as the Ku Klux Clan and Mike Tyson and have the same effect as the day you realise your parents have sex .......eeeeeewwwwww !!

Billy, you gonna take this ?

Maybe Dave things that if he signs Ollie, he doesn't need other top signings.

The only other player who has really been THAT much of a single-company-face is Lasoya, and he's getting old. Lang is a property who is going to remain a property for years. He's the single most recognizable name in paintball that isn't attached to a set of boobs.

Dave sees this as a 10 year deal and without name dropping, I got the inside take on things after talking to Ollie last night for about half an hour.

He said, Pete this was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life'.
Without giving too much away because he's gonna do an exclusive for us in this up and coming PGi, he sees this move as a move that was necessary on several levels.

He wants a future, a future that allows him to have a house, get married, kids, all the stuff most responsible people aspire to and make provision for by staying around for college.
Paintball is Ollie's life and because of this he never did the 'college' thing and therefore restricted his academic and business opportunities for the love of our sport.

It's hardly surprising that as he matured into the greatest player of all time that his outlook on life would similarly mature and as such, he now looks to securing a future.

Dave YB saw this opportunity and was prepared to put his money where his mouth was and provided Ollie with a unique opportunity to secure a Paintball future that would also secure his financial future.
No doubt Ollie has people that were close to him now criticizing him etc but as he said, 'Pete, if any of these guys are real friends, then they will remain real friends after this move, if they don't, then they weren't real friends in the first place'.

Just about says it all.

Screw that. I get it all in Monopoly money. No taxes!

Unfortunately, Boardwalk has been taken over by panhandlers and crack addicts.

How many players of that caliber are going to accept that they're worth only half of Ollie? Particularly when you think that they all came up together. It might be easier on a new team that has less history playing with Ollie to accept the salary imbalance.
Best what? It's got nothing to do with bst player. Ollie is the best marketing muscle, and he's easily worth twice as much marketing wise as anyone else on that team.

It might just be he is the best marketing proposition because he is the best player in the world, what the hell do you think made Jordan the best marketing personality in basketball...because he had a nice smile???

Ollie is the best player the world has ever seen and 'to the victor go the spoils'....as far as I am concerned the man deserves everything he gets ....and then some.

Absolutely right - you're doing better at explaining my point, which was that even though he might only be 5% or 20% better than the other players on the team, when you're the best, being 5% better at paintball than the 2nd best still makes you 300% stronger at paintball marketing.

Was Michael Jordan 100 times better at basketball than other basketball players? Would he have been able to play as well without the support of the likes of Pippen, Rodman and Paxon? Probably not - but he was still The Best, and that's why he gets magnitudes more of endorsements. Just like Tiger - he's only marginally better than Vijay Sing.. and some would argue whether he even is better - but he's definitely more marketable.

To an extent, it's the same as paintball guns - the difference in performance between a $150 and a $500 paintball gun is phenomenal. The difference between a $500 and a $1500 paintball gun is minimal. A small difference at the top is worth a lot more than a big difference at the bottom. Just the way the universe works.

Although frankly, if you put Ollie in a quality reffing environment, I think his advantage over other players decreases substantially. He's one of the best grey-area players I've ever seen, but that only works well when you've got a lot of grey area to work with.

(Carcus is a better grey-player, but Carcus doesn't hold a candle to Ollie in talent otherwise.)
