Better...

I'm also saying that evolving understanding of the X-Ball game is and will create a widening gulf between those who play it and those who don't.
That does appear to be exactly what you are saying... you say that playing X-Ball is making NXL players better than S7.

Sure there is a gulf opening, but I believe that Dynasty will end up being better at 7-Man than the Oakland Assasins, who'd almost certainly rip them apart at X-Ball.

There is a gulf, but neither will end up being "Better".

X-Ball is physically demanding yes, but points (analagous to games) are lost by the top teams far more often than in tournamnet ball, so is it technically more demanding? I believe not.

Did anyone else watch Max Lundqvist playing for Sweden against England? He was playing a different game to everyone else on the field and was a class above everyone on his side and everyone on the UK side from what I saw, not because he was necessarily any tighter - in fact it was usually the reverse - a better shot or a faster mover, he just understood how to play the game way better than anyone else. The difference between him and everyone else was amazing.

Yes and No

BC, Alex and Oli from Dynasty played in a very similar way to Max in several Dynasty games this weekend.

I think the NXL players are learning what you can get away with and developing new techniques which will translate to 7-Man, and I think Dynasty are on a similar flightpath by virtue of their ability, their commitment to walking and reading fields, and also a sharing of knowledge, practice etc. with the likes of the SC Men.

I don't 'know', but my feeling is that Dynasty aside, the NXL teams are going to soar away from the rest of the sides out there irrespective of format...

There you go, Richard, now it's not just me saying it.:D
(And there is a team, or maybe two, out there training and practicing exclusively to play X ;) )

D.
We seam to like to get scr_w_d. And the questions still stand, what are we going to do about it? Just follow what is happening over there or act ourselves and set the standard for o u r style of playing?

If we chose to fight for the 7 man concept then we should say no thanks to X Ball togheter with NPPL.

As it is now we are totally open and we are not leading the developement, but beeing led of mr Italia and the promoters of NXL, and no, we don't have a EXL here..

I like the X Ball concept, but that doesn't mean that I have to love NXL..

I say we nuke them from orbit...

Well, since the Ironmen and Miami Effect are both going to be at Toulouse, I guess we'll find out won't we. That'll be one to watch!
