NXL trigger rule change? taken from AO
As of last week, the new trigger spec for the NXL (I don't think the NPPL spec changed) basically states that as long as the gun doesn't fire fully auto, then its ok. They allow ramping, turbo, bounce, reactive, anything as long as it isn't pull and hold the trigger to fire.

Personnally, I hope this doesn't transfer over to regular tournament play.

In testing, the new shocker apparently was able to put out a ball every 9 ft downfield by allowing this type of feature. I can't remember the speed of a ball after it has travelled 100ft downfield, but I do know that it translates into a lot of bps that can be maintained without much effort.

Anyone else hear about the new ruling?

Quite interesting if it is true.

taken from AO and PBnation

This blows super gigantic donkey poles if it is true!

Everything between semi and full auto is simply varying degrees of automatic fire.

Full auto is not safe but I could see it in a closed circuit situation but only under much stricter safety control of barrel-blocking devices etc. But ramping ROF, storing shots and especially ramping velocity are far more dangerous than full auto. At least with full auto the gun stops shooting when you release the trigger and the rate of fire can be limited and is constant.

So maybe allow controlled BPS, controlled FPS paintball under reasonably strict safety controls, with mandatory skull helmets and beefed up goggle systems. Maybe also with an advanced welt-reducing protective clothing that doesn't bouce paint so much. But only in a closed-circuit competition such as NXL or EXL.

But not wide-open turbo and anything-goes-as-long-as-it-ain't full auto. What's the new rule going to be? Anything that LOOKS like walking the trigger will be OK for automatic fire? A 3-round or a 12-round burst per trigger pull? This in-between idea is ridiculous.

Is this so the insurers and underwriters will sign off? As long as it is not full auto in name it's alright? A double-blinding or some serious concussions are perhaps required to inform the insurers, regulators and legislators about how dangerous PB could become?

This can't be true.

Sometimes your posts are funny, sometimes they are interesting gossip and sometimes just wasted bytes filling up the internet but this time its just complete cr*p. There are no varying degrees of semi auto, there is semi automatic, burst firing and full automatic. I can see a whole enormous bag of trouble being opened with this and injuries to players in the very near future.
Just because they seem unable to police the problem they just legalize it - what a great way to regulate our sport!!!

That's what I heard... New boards for everyone! Wahoo! Oh except those playing in the NXL who already had this...

They realised they couldn't beat the cheats. So made cheating legal...

Or varying degrees of semi-auto fire...you say tomato...
TJ, not quite so simple. Burst modes etc. Count as fully auto. In Fact fully auto definition is anything which ISN'T one shot per trigger activation. So pull the trigger 100 times and get 101 shots would have technically been a FA gun.

Semi is 1 activation = 1 shot.
FA is 1 activation > 1 shot.

How long before these boards are in use at local fields shooting up everyone? Hang on, give me chance to drive over to my local field and watch the NXL players practice...

And there are no varying degrees of fully automatic either, so pick on Superstevey too.

To-mah-toe.
