Markie, as far as I know the exact arrangements for next year haven't been decided upon and I think to a certain extent they are contingent upon what happens with these integration talks.
If PP (NPPL) are serious about globalizing (and I know they are) then they will need to look at having some presence over here in Europe, what form that takes has yet to be sorted.
The ESPN deal will tend to refocus their attention on Stateside proceedings but I'm not sure they will completely take their eye off the Euro ball as securing first steps toward globalizing coupled with an ESPN deal seems to me to be complimentary rather than distracting.
Nah, it all fits in quite well when I come to think about it but as for what it will do for Euro ball if and when they do come across?
Well if they do, there are two possibilities, they either do it with the Millennium or not.
Worrying times for the Millennium Board if they sit down and consider what might happen if they don't secure some sort of alliance deal quite quickly because sure as ****, if there is any real money in this ESPN deal (or even potentially) then the NPPL ain't gonna be too attracted to sharing any of it if they come to Europe.
If they have the cash, then the NPPL ain't gonna be looking for no Euro partners.
The only reason (in my opinion) the NPPL will hook up with the Millennium in any primary stage is for convenience purposes alone and not for any mid to long term partnership agreement.
For the Euro baller, the pros already part of the higher order (Joy Division and Nexus) the future looks good for them if they can hang in there but for the rest of the pack, things are not so clear but I can’t see it being a bad thing.
If the NPPL and Millennium combine, coooool, I think we can all see the benefits of that one in us being part of a new world order (excuse my cliché) and if they don’t combine and set up in opposition, well, the Euro baller is gonna get a choice in a competing market place which generally means a higher standard of product than those already present.
When I look at what’s going on at the moment, there is one huge factor that troubles me more than anything and that is the working relationship between the NPPL and PP.
I believe it is this that is key to our ultimate direction.
When the NPPL was first born in 2003, it was a marriage made in heaven, the problem with some marriages is, as time goes on, differing agendas can sometimes flourish and it is the management of these differing agendas that dictates the ultimate direction in which the partnership goes.
I don’t like unpredictability in any guise especially when the fate of paintball is held hostage by it.
