...Deep ****.

My goods didn't have a receipt in the box - no details of how much it was worth - still got charged an extra £45.44

Also most companies won't write 'warranty replacement' on the box as it is tax/export fraud and they would get banged up if it ever came to the crunch.

If you can find someone who will do it though - good luck to you!

Planet Piper away from you freaks!
True that is a fair argument. But if they don't have it and it comes from America you could spend hours trying to find one in stock somewhere.

Oh yeah and you might not know but it would have to go back to USA for any warranty work!

I have ordered stuff from hong kong and the states and have been stung about 3 times out of 20 for duty. Anything sent groundmail was never checked and everything with "gift" on it I got away with.
Especially with paintball products, the money you save (on certain items) makes the risk worth while. I have just ordered a Piranha PRO TS from the states (cheers rabies) which will cost me about £140 inc. shipping. even if I get stung for duty then I am looking at about £165. The cheapest (and only place) I have seen it in the UK is for £285 plus shipping. So getting it from the states saves me a hell of a lot of money.

Indeed there are Pipesybaby :)

But there are also a lot of things (such as all my Timmy and cocker parts) which just weren't available in the UK at the time I wanted them, and indeed most of them still aren't.

Talking of which, if I decided I was interested in the ER ram, which I am trying hard not to be, what's the damage?

And a true enough comment on the warranty front and for that reason i wouldn't recomend going to any overseas supplier if the person isn't experienced and isn't comfortable fixing things.

But if they say I want marker X and/or upgrades A.B.C.D.E. with enough spares to fix the titanic, then the US/Euro option is there if you want it.

On a related note - I always expect to get charged tax and decide if it's still good value for money if I do, that way if I don't get taxed it's a bonus, and not the expected outcome.

I think that includes a 20oz CO2 (ooohhh! aaahhh!) but I still make that a £80 difference, worst case.

The other reason so many people look abroad is that most of the UK dealers have either a pretty laughable web site, or none at all. For the effort it takes to have an up-to-date stock and price list online, even without fancy photos of everything, it must be worth it many times over in the extra business it can generate. Nobody wants to drive 200 miles just to window shop.
