Not wanting to add a sour point to the event but are we now suggesting that we stop games so we can check every player to see what colour paintballs they are using before a player is eliminated. Get real it is a fast game and decisions have to be made in split seconds, marshalls should not make a decision after they have checked what paint all the opposition are shooting. What happens if a player has two different coloured paints in his hopper or pack?? See which comes out of his hopper first. The 10 minute game would consist of 9 minutes checking players pots and hoppers. Remember if this decision went against you this time it could happen to one of your opponents next time - would YOU then insist the marshal puts that player back as you were shooting different coloured paintballs.

If you feel you are a better marshal try it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should I book Stupid Troppers for marshalling the next event?????

It's always the one who never marshals who starts to moan about the marshals.

Out of sixtyfour teams who played on the sunday i was only made aware of 5 complaints and when you consider we played over 450 games and only gave one lot of penalty points.

And i told all the ultimates at the to stand no nonsense from anyone on there field's.
There is a saying that you can not please all the people all off the time - But STB came pretty close.

So most of you have thanked Bully and John Payne and the marshals for another great event but as tournament ultimate I would like to thank the 64 teams who attended the event and made it one of the biggest and most enjoyable event's in the country.

He's Right you know

Marshalling tournaments is hard, I know from experience, (never again) and with some fields on sunday only having four marshalls the job is even harder.

One field even had Rick Miller running into lines of paint all day

Hi Bully...

if you go back and read the original post, you'll see that I DID praise the marshalls for doing a good job... I DO acknowledge that they have a hard job to do and need to make decisions quickly on limited information.

Also, the incident I mentioned was completely benign; the player involved didnt question the decision, he just got up and walked; There was no arguing or dissent.

Please dont make out that I was dissing the marshals. I'd never do that.

If as per the last post the incident was "benign" the player "walked" there was no arguing or dissent then WHY mention it unless your are making a point that the marshalling was at fault?

I know you praised the marshals but you can't praise in one breath and then point out their errors in the next breath.

Mud slinging?? when did that occur?
I mentioned that paint checks were crap in the game I played and you know what, at the end of the game when the players were checked the 2 players Ian had been calling on for checks were both hit Mistakes happen, thats fine, the banzais game that was a little different, was there any penalties given for that?

I know its a hard job we all except that, Russell pointed out marshelling mistakes that he saw at the Midland Masters event I'm just doing likewise, whats the big stand off for??

That to me is mud slinging

Pay - well that is easy £100 cash to me gets the job (I then give Russ £50 to play). Also you have to ensure the event organiser gets tea and a bacon butty at 10.00am

You don't think Russell gets paid - he does jack **** now that is mud slinging

Ok maybe 'sucked' was a little harsh, as I didn't sit and watch every game on that field, however the ones I did watch I saw something on that field. This should not overshadow what was an excellent event, superbly organised and run brilliantly

As Russell said there was only 5 or so complaints in 540 games quite a feat!

Just to reitterate this was another fantastic tourny well done everyone!
