just my 2ps worth here. But if wanting any big exposure for these big sponsorship we need more people like rick harris and mark c. To put on there amazine exbos like the blackpool one so people can see what its all about. And the maybe big names might come and hang there banners up for people to see. But until someone can do that type ov thing we wont move up the chain.

p.s i thought monster drinks were made by rockstar

thanks mike

IMO,
+ visible paintballs = win.
Reduced field size + less players = Easier to follow, and much more impressive moves.

Hell, even moving up to 5v5 makes it more difficult to follow. For example, compare that video to the smart parts world championships. Which is better viewing?

Just out of interest, has anyone ever experimented with high vis paintballs? I know that you can get camo paint, claiming to be 'less visible'.

The simple truth is that we are involved in a minority sport.

Or rebel sport, or underground sport, call it what you will.

In terms of public awareness, we are where skateboarding was over 30 years ago.

A sport takes time to grow - because ours is expensive to play, uses guns and is hard to follow makes that evolution even more difficult.

The way forward is to enjoy your game - be a sportsman on and off the field, and promote paintball positively wherever you can, however you can.

Visionaries like Sphorer, Astamendi and Napoli are pushing forward with their coverage and documentaries, so we need more people like these.

If you are looking for a role model - take Sonny Lopez. He has played for Dynasty and Naughty Dogs, and now plays pump with probably the best pump team the world has seen for some time.

Now, there's a man with a few stories.

Ways to make paintball a little easier to watch:

  • Make opposing teams wear different coloured vests. This would make it easier for people to follow who's doing what and where.
  • Put the scores up in a public viewing area. Again, so Joe P can 'follow' their team.
  • Have a live commentator explaining rules/decisions etc.
  • Somewhere for the spectators to sit and watch.
  • Vendors that cater to the public - rather than existing ballers. Most vendors would have mad a killing in Blackpool - just selling DVD's. T-shirts etc. Keep the stuff cheap and cheerful (like keyrings, badges etc.) and the kiddies would have been falling over themselves to spend Grandma's well earned pension.
  • Cheerleaders are a must ;)

This *may* get more spectators watching.

God, we wish! Thirty years ago myself and all the other kids were already zipping around the block on a skateboard that my mom and dad had bought for me in the local toystore. When's the last time you saw paintball equipment in the toystore? Much less seen all the kids play with it... :(

Are you two in denial? Honestly, if literally millions of dollars have been spent by ESPN/Dick Clark et al. and still unable to come up with a watchable, workable programme, then maybe, just maybe it's time to accept reality?
In denial? possibly, though i wasn't reffering specifically to "tournament" paintball i was referring to the broader spectrum of the sport/hobby overall. They were just simple ideas and more importantly, doable ideas that could (not saying they would for definate), but the could, encourage more into the game.

another idea would be "team" promotions. keyrings, mini jerseys, car stickers, wall clocks etc for supporters and spectators to buy. As we dont seem to have anything in that line of "affordable" fan base for people to enjoy.

merchandising anyone?
