Mikey bejeeezus, I have heard sooo much that is supposed to be going on with my team that it beggars belief.
Even some my ex players were convinced I had sold the team and even went on PBNation and criticized me for selling it and then accusing me of selling them down the river ffs.
The truth of the matter is, I had never sold the damned team, never !!!!
I hadn't even got close to selling it.
I was talking to Dave YB and Ledz but that's as far as any of it got, certainly nothing was gonna be done till the end of the season anyway.
I certainly gave Dave YB the opportunity to try and save the spot in the NPPL because we both believed that to persevere with the original line up was going to compromise our ability to avoid relegation.
Past performances in the NPPL (HB and Tampa) had stuck us in 17th spot and our form in the CPL didn't exactly inspire confidence and so we, and others decided to let some Ironmen help out.
Boston was a freaky event with Dynasty, XSV, Philly Americans and the Ironmen all failing to make the cut and it was just unfortunate our replacement players couldn't get in also.
But what's undeniable, the choice to go with those players was the right one with the information we had put before us.
And when I say us, I am talking about myself, Ledzy, Dave YB, Shane Pestana, Brian Bennini, Steve Duffy, and Andy Piper.
There are some voices who beg to differ but I'm afraid their reasons for differing are well outside the realms of being truthful or reasonable and rammed full of self-interest.
The sad truth is, we had an opportunity to keep a valued place in the NPPL and didn't play well enough on the field of play to maintain that position.
We also had a great opportunity to impose our team on the CPL and once again, failed to produce on the field what it takes.
I am sure people will be spouting this, that and whatever but what remains is this, the game is played on the field by players and results don't lie, end of !
As for what next?
Well, it's all about what I do decide to do for next year and it comes down to this, is it worth carrying the Nexus name into 2007 playing exclusively in the CPL or do I call it a day?
And to be honest, I just haven't decided yet.
I certainly cut some players for what I believe was an absolute dereliction of trust and loyalty and that's as much as I will say on that matter .
I gotta call Dave YB tonight, I will also speak to Andy Piper, Duffy, Ledzy and 'er indoors to see what's best for me and Nexus and when I decide what's best, I will do it.
It's as simple as that and anything you might hear over and above that is just plain bullsh!t and people trying to stir up trouble !!!!
