Thanks to everyone that was supporting us out there, all the Brits at the sidelines cheering us on really made us want to do well and show everyone just why we had all been picked to make up the Nexus Eclipse team.
Toulouse was our first Millenuim tournament when we made the squad we were told we wern't playing pro untill Toulouse now this was back at the end of last year so we had to wait and wait and wait........... well it was worth the wait, all the training the hard work the dedication all paid off at the weekend.
Going into the tournament we knew we were gonna do well because we had trained so hard, but in the back of our heads we knew it was our first time out with the big boys but we were still confident.
On the Friday we won every game which was just the start we needed we knew if we played hard and kept it going we could make the Sunday Club but we still had a long way to go.
Saturday was our hard day team wise we had to play Ignition and XSV and Arsenal, we knew it was gonna be tough so we got down to business. First game was against Ignition on the JT field we went at them hard and they managed to turn it round and take us down to one player, and after some old magic by the Silver fox we came away with the win and feeling confident bring on Arsenal our next game. We lost 3 off the break and couldn't really pull it back and lost ur first game of the tournament, next came XSV, we went at these boys aggresive knowing we needed to win to show we could compete, we took them down to a 1 on 1 but ended up just losing the game to a sneaky move from XSV.
We all knew that the pressure now was well and truely on it was our first tournament but we were so close to qualifying that we wern't going to let anything stop us, we won our next game and maxed our last 7 guys alive a win in under 2 mins 100 points for Eclipse just what we needed.
We were the only pro team to get 3 maxes in the prelims, we set records on 3 different fields for beating teams in record times we felt confident we had qualified and were over the moon, all the hard work had paid off.
Sunday we had to play Dynasty, Arsenal and Hardcore in the prelims, we had Hardcore 1st and we lost a body off the break and were all over them we had the 50's and 2 boys in their 40, but Hardcore played some excellent paintball and managed to turn it round and take the win...... gutted.
We had Dynasty next on our best field the Evil field, we thought **** it we're going at these guys hard we made the snake off the break shot Angel as he hit it also, Yosh was next to get the Nexus loving in the back and Lang got lucky
Again our experience vs theirs seemed to be our problem we knew we had game but they also have game.. alot of game, after a crazy move by Greenspan we lost the game and knew we wern't going to make the semi's but we still had to play Arsenal.
Arsenal had beat us on the Saturday and they were very confident they could do it again, but we wernt going to let them. We knew we hadn't made the semi's but we wanted to finish the tournament with a bang and some pride and what followed was a show of Nexus ball at its best.
We went at them hard very hard and they being so confident came at us hard also but we knew it we got in the snake off the break and pushed the other tape hard, they came at us guns blazing and got lit up, we took advantage and didnt give them room or time to recover player after player walked off and as we grabbed the the flag at their end the game time was ....................... 52 seconds
Didn't get to the semi's but for a team who's first time out was as Pro at the world cup we did very very well, we were so close to making the semi's but were happy with our 5th overall finish.
We wanna give mad respect to all our sponsors and Andy Piper and all the Evil staff, Jamie B Tommy Gun and Eggy for the amazing help out there and sponsorship, all the Planet Crew uncle Jules, Ledz n the rest of the guys, everyone who supported us out there, and to Robbo for all the training and verbal abuse over the past 6 months without these people we could not have done what we have did.
