nugeo, I appreciate the time and energy invested, but it is rare for people to spend $1000 and say "nope, that was $1000 I wouldn't spend again." I don't doubt your sincerity, but I am inclined to be skeptical of your dispassionate objective relationship to a marker you just paid for.

We all like what we buy, whether or not we like it. I mean by this that people want no buyer's remorse, so they like the gun they just bought, most of the time.

Also, what is it with every freakin' gun review I have ever read having this "it was old paint, it had been storing it in my septic tank since 2001 World Cup" caveat? I understand it in nugeo's case, this is a player taking it upon himself to give us his opinion on the marker without being sent a marker to test from the manufacturer, without being paid for the review, etc. If he uses old paint, fine most people do from time to time. But when I read that in a magazine article, I always think "can they not expense a case of paint?!" Using decent paint in a tournament marker review just makes sense.

I agree with Manike's assessment of the product reviews in PGI. All the same, I have noted this stupid little caveat there as well. For the love of God, reviewers, use some decent paint. I will take it as a personal affront next time I read that "I broke 6 balls in the first hopper, but I had picked up the paint from the bottom of the netting around the field.." I will take it personally mostly to make myself feel important, but please just don't let it happen.

Is the NME actually a grand?

EVERY freakin' gun review? (I will grant you the exaggeration factor. ;) )

What a dreamer you are. :) [Ok, maybe some arrangement can be made . . .] I otherwise agree with you but would go further and suggest that in general the quality of paint used ought to match the marker's typical marketplace category. Which is what I usually try to do, btw. :D

All my marker reviews are sponsored by RPS and I make it a point to request different grades of paint from the usual field paint up to the top of the line stuff. And, oh yeah, I sometimes purposely put junk paint thru a particular marker just to see how well it handles it because even tho top end markers are made for competition play most don't end up being used for that purpose and if the high dollar supergun can't tolerate crappy paint that's worth knowing. Last year or two though most guns--when set up properly--seem more than capable of shooting almost anything that's nearly round and the right size. Only really brittle paint anymore poses a problem.

You are now returned to your previous thread. Nice job, nugeo.

i now shoot a timmy, after owning an angel speed and a mech cocker (amongst others) and i like it. simple. i might buy a shocker soon to see if i like it too.

point is really if you pay for it and you like it, then its good.

no matter what anyone else says, and whether or not your personal choice is a good or bad one, as long as you are happy that is all that matters.

I'll give them credit, the new production guns are FAR better than the original batch and prototypes I handled.

I won't lose any sleep though, I'm too busy designing guns that work without ANY tanks for people that play renegade paintball. ;)

Thought this might help give the marker a bit of credibility, Team Avalanche has decided to go with NME’s.

Check out http://www.68caliber.com/news/tournament/story04665.php

They seem a pretty good team: 2nd PSP Pro X-Ball and 4th at MS and NPPL

BTW: Pricing mentioned seemed a bit high, bit of surfing and I found: US=$899.00 and UK=£650.00

Also: Yip, agree, the "old paint" story always sounds like a cop-out so appologies there, will keep it in mind if ever I have a crack at another review.

Avalanche are an AWESOME team. Love those guys.

I hear rumours about how much they were offered by System X. $$$$ and then more $$$$ with some extra $$$$ on the side.

Wish them the best of luck for next season.

You get what you pay for.
Sounds like a challenge to me: You with your Argos pump gun, me with a SX Pro4.0 Xonik (17bps out the box). I'm up for it, 100 quid says I win....
