Has anyone realised that if the 15bps rate does get changed - then nearly all markers will either need to have their software re-flashed - or, at worst, new boards (again!).

As much as I am opposed to ramping in the first place (let's not start that debate again) - 15bps seems to be the 'norm'. Like Russell said "if it ain't broke...".

alrady been covered. most decent markers these days come with adjustability. the majority of aftermarket boards that people favour eg virtue / tadao do also.

Thanks Ian -I couldn't be bothered reading through all the other pages of "should we/shouldn't we".

My point was that although it is possible to re-program your board - most boards have a set/fixed PSP or NPPL or Mill modes. It would make these obsolete - and those 'newer' to the game would be worried about not having the mode set right as they go on field (it would also mean the refs would have to check EVERY gun - not just the odd ones they do now).

Personally, I'd like to see it lowered to 10bps if ramping has to stay. Financially, I'd like it left alone.

Pete,
I do know your stance on cheats, and I understand what it cost the team.
The original post has been put on a few forums (USA and Europe) and it will be a collective of votes that will decide if I want to try and get people to change, the reply I am getting from most of my contacts is (if it an’t broke….) and I don’t disagree with them but the Millenniums seem determined to **** up a rule that works just to put their stamp on it.
I feel we have to attempt to put this right before it just ruins a rule that works – for everyone.
As for powerhouse, I wish I was Pete, but I find explaining a solution so people come to a decision themselves works just fine, and if they dont - it was not explained good enough so thats my fault, I can live with that because I dont have that much of an ego, just values.
Russ

My whole point was, not to say you ain't a powerhouse or to diss you in any way Russ but to bring to light that real powerhouses, the likes of Leontiev, Youngblood and others have all tried to sway the PSP and not been successful.
I am well aware of many things that have happened in the past within the PSP's history and know how difficult it is to not only get the PSP guys round a table but to get them to agree is about as easy as launching Ged Green through a basketball hoop and for somebody to sway them who is OUTSIDE of that powerhouse loop is nigh on impossible mate.
Dave YB is one of the few guys whose single voice gets anywhere with those guys and the reasons for that should be self-evidential considering his position on the PSP and within the industry.
He is one of a handful of guys with true financial clout and the integrity and respect to go with it and trust me on this next point Russ, even he has very real problems getting the rest of those guys on the PSP to see sense sometimes let alone come up with a consensus.
I suppose I am saying if we know the landscape and limitations we can put together a realistic process whereby unification of rules is possible but if we go around telling UK players they can decide the fate of worldwide paintball by the click of a button, this is somewhat misleading mate, in fact it's absolute bollocks.
Don Quixote wasted a lot of time and effort tilting at windmills and became legendary for his folly ...... let's get real mate and get a real handle on what's possible here and then work from that position.

There is more chance of me throwing a brick at Vladimir Putin and living for another five years than there is of the NPPL taking up a ramp system.

Anyone would think Ulrich isn't on your crimbo list Pete..

Ya know Matski, a lot of people piss me off in Paintball, and for the most part I will eventually soften a little and sort the problem out unless what they have done is sooooo bad that it is unforgivable like a few people who were on and connected with my old team Nexus, but that's another story.
There are people like Steve Baldwin of the Millennium, there were times when I could (and probably would have if he had been in the same room) have snapped his back, but....I have known Steve for something like 19 years now and eventually we sort it out and this happens because he has redeeming values and we have a basic respect for each other.
I have fallen out with Steve a lot of times but in all those times, even when I wanted to detach his ballsack from his scrawny little frame, he was always a great guy to go and have a drink with because I did actually like him.
Paintball can sometimes make enemies of a lot of people.
Actually, Steve is a cool guy but sometimes he won't move from a bad position purely because he doesn't wanna when circumstances demand he should.
He is as pig headed as me but generally speaking he was always wrong, that was the difference :)
Anyways my point here is this, the vast majority of people do have these redeeming virtues whereby you can get past the wrongs they have done and you can get back to being friends, which is what I prefer Steve to be.
But Ulrich is one of nature's exceptions I am afraid and the real problem he has is one of not seeing any problem with his own behaviour set.
He is blissfully unaware of how obnoxious he is, we all have faults for god's sake, I got a million and I know every single one but Ulrich seems unable to grasp his own true perspective.
And I'm afraid people like him cannot be changed, he is born like that and no amount of social conditioning is gonna change that intransigence.
He just can't seem to grasp the notion of 'customer care' and seems unable to treat people with due respect when things get rough, I ain't saying he is rude to them, far from it, he is assiduously straight laced.
He is unbelievably good at his job in some senses but falls at the most important of hurdles, that of caring for his customer base, that's team and player....basically you guys.
A year or so back, I had representatives from about 5 German teams contact me with a view to orchestrating his removal from the Millennium.
I never actually met up with these guys but I suppose it's a measure of his character when his own countrymen contact a Brit to get his ass outa paintball.

And 'no', he ain't on my Xmas card list, he's on another list, a list that has five names on it at the moment ....... don't ya just love the wait guys :)
