Russell, whilst the sentiment of your post may sound reasonable, and just for my own peace of mind, how do you propose to go 'worldwide' with this, do you have power over the world's other leagues?

In Paintball, it's all about working with people..some you like, some you don't
Pete,
My “influence” was enough to convince the PSP not to go with extra compulsory head armour but to introduce the PA ramp mode. (PM you the emails if you want)
The NPPL don’t even know who I am, so wouldn’t listen, so they still use cheating guns.
The people I talk to all want to see a unified rule book, with one exception.
That person still wants to be a big fish in a little pond, instead of being big enough to be a small fish in a rather large pond!
I was/am the chairman of the Millennium rule committee and was asked to develop a worldwide rulebook for 2007, but when I asked that we allow the Americans into the discussion group Ulrich decided we did not need them until we have completed the rulebook, and we could then present it to them for “approval” even though I was saying unless they help develop the thing in the first place we might as well use it as toilet paper.
I repeat I am not trying to change things for changing sake (as much as I have always preferred 12 bps) but to try and keep the essence of the rule the same where ever you play.
That is cheats dont have any advantage.

For what my thoughts are worth.........
I believe you'd have trouble converting the masses worldwide away from the 15 limit, but in the same breath i cannot see the point of only dropping 3bps to 12.
i don't believe it would have a serious impact on the field, where as a new 10bps limit "would" make a difference, but then the game loses a little sexiness and kudos from having these crazy 15bps markers.
i'm still a little doubtfull as to what effect a drop in bps rate would have on "exciting up the play", surely you'll just have people unloading on you for 18 seconds at 10bps rather than 12 seconds at 15bps. Teams these days seem to follow the theory of suppression by paint domination rather than skill, so for this playing style i think a new limit will have little or no impact:(
Mind you a cheaper paintbill may actually allow more people into the sport?

Russ, you are well aware of my stance on cheats, I have made it quite clear and also took a stand which got me absolutely nowhere and actually cost me a great deal, or least was partly responsible anyway.

My problem is this, I know the Yanks, and I know all the people you were working with and I know this much, they don't change unless they wanna and nobody from outside of their sphere is gonna influence them.
If they changed, then it's because they were gonna do it anyway and the change was coincidental as against causal.

If people like Sergey and many other powerhouses of our game can't get them to change then I would find it hard to believe anybody outside of that circle and living over here could..
I am not dissing you but to suggest to people who vote on here that they will then decide a new world order is somewhat presumptuous and sounds at least a tad arrogant.

As for Ulrich, I have let my views be known about him, he is an intransigent buffoon with the social skills of Charles Manson and EXACTLY the wrong sort of person to be doing the job he does.

I can well understand that dealing with him would be a nightmare as you might as well go and stick a flagpole up your arse for all the sense you would get from him.

I 100% agree with your strategy regarding allowing the Yanks to be involved at the compilation stage of any rule book, it makes sense on a few levels but I suppose I might have been around a lot of these guys for too long and I end up being too cynical.
The Americans will set their own destiny unless forced otherwise, if we tag along, then cool, if we don't, then all is cool again for them.
A unified rule book is something most sensible ballers have been advocating for a long time now but it Will happen when the Yanks are ready for it and not before mate, the likes of Ulrich can only hinder this process and the quicker he is gotten rid of, the better.
Unfortunately the Millennium guys don't see it that way because of a shortage of guys who would even do a job like that, its the traffic warden syndrome whereby the job attracts a certain type of character because of the supposed power that position can wield.
And it generally attracts people who are unfulfilled in many other areas and relish the opportunity to impose themselves on others in a dictatorial fashion.

There is more chance of me throwing a brick at Vladimir Putin and living for another five years than there is of the NPPL taking up a ramp system.

Anyone would think Ulrich isn't on your crimbo list Pete..

Pete,
I do know your stance on cheats, and I understand what it cost the team.
The original post has been put on a few forums (USA and Europe) and it will be a collective of votes that will decide if I want to try and get people to change, the reply I am getting from most of my contacts is (if it an’t broke….) and I don’t disagree with them but the Millenniums seem determined to **** up a rule that works just to put their stamp on it.
I feel we have to attempt to put this right before it just ruins a rule that works – for everyone.
As for powerhouse, I wish I was Pete, but I find explaining a solution so people come to a decision themselves works just fine, and if they dont - it was not explained good enough so thats my fault, I can live with that because I dont have that much of an ego, just values.
