Hi there,

I agree with EyeFellOva, don't let anyone put you off of a nerve. They are a good gun, very underated, and now very cheap, it has a good board (lots of shocker owners move to a nerve board from their standard shocker board).

Check out this guy's thread, he bought one, and as far as I can tell loves it more than anything on this earth:

This is the guy talking about it:

And this is when he received it:

The nerve was designed to be a top rate marker with little or no need to upgrade parts, a true top flight piece of kit.

People also say the nerve is a nightmare to maintain, but I don't think it is, and besides thats what smart parts is there for, good quality aftermarket service, if you've ever got a problem just call them. They know there stuff!

I will admit i don't shoot one, I shoot an Ion, but this is because when I was in the market for a marker, they were still at their full price. Their now just over £300 with the V.A.T.

if only i could turn back time.

Good luck with your decision.

jim.

Right, instead if making a new thread, i'll post here.

Does anybody know where i can get some White Dye i3's if they're even released? I saw them advertised in pgi at the front.

Right, ive just read the manual on the smart parts site and im a little confused with some stuff. Could any body tell me what a solenoid, dwell, rebound etc and all that stuff does? Isn't rebound like controlling how bouncy the trigger is, or am i mistaken?

Thanks guys, much appreciated

*EDIT* theres no point as you've already made your mind up ....anyhoo

rebound is basically on the nerve board a trigger debounce setting which can be set to induce bounce (ramping)

dwell is the amount of time air is released from the solenoid to push the ram /bolt forward to hit the ball .higher dwell ..longer air release .kinder on paint but less efficent .lower dwell..the opposite

the solenoid is the electronic part of teh marker that switches the low pressure airflow to again push the bolt forward/backward ....basically this controls the air cycle of the marker.through a low voltage current sent to it by the main board

maybe some one can explain this better im trying to keep it simple. theres a ton more stuff you can learn over time if you want to or ask about in the tech forum.

I'll be honest and give you the info you need to the best of my knowledge.

Ion- (I own one) Honestly it's a cheaper knock off of the Shocker. It's a nice marker just add a freak barrel, a clamping feedneck and it great out of the box too. 17 BPS gets the job done no matter what anyone says.

Shocker- Basicly the whole basis of the Ion with out the cut corners.

Nerve- from what I have been told they are very nice guns as long as you get the vision kit. Basicly thats the only real draw back of a nerve out of the box. But I don't know for sure since I've never shot one. I heard they were kinda heavy too.

But it's that time of year right now where all the companies are switching over to this years products which means last years products are dropping in price. Like I just saw a Timmy $1350 US on sale for $550 US. (conversion I guess is about 450 down to 200 or some where around that). So I'd say hit the web sites and start looking for a good deal. There are lots of sites so take your time.

But honestly your best bet if you don't know is to get to a paintball store and handle the guns a bit. Trust me the way a gun feels in your hand makes more difference then price, looks, rate of fire, and kinda accuracy too. Because if it doesn't feel right to you then you are gonna lose a couple BPS and your accuracy will tend to be off a little bit. Hope that helps ya.

Now as for the white Dye Goggles I heard recently that they were going to make some but not to many. So they may be really hard to get your hands on even if they do. Of coarse that is just a rumor because I don't remember where I heard it.

Personally I just bought a Dye IN3 and it's a nice mask but it's allready been retired for my Avatar. I messed up the lens and the foam padding fighting with removing and replacing the lens. The Avatar is so much easier to clean and the lens removale is worth the purchase all by it's self. Plus I think it's more comfortable but don't get me wrong I wouldn't have bought the Invision if it wasn't a nice mask.
