Depending upon your OS it might be recoverable.. If it's running any of the modern Windows variants, try booting from the OS CD and try an auto repair.. they rarely work, and often cause more problems that thye fix..

Another handy tip.....
If the drive starts clunking, take it out and bang in on the floor, square, not on the edge, it should free up the heads. Or, wrap it up in a plastic bag, and tape it up good so no moisture gets into it, then stick it in the freezer for half an hour. The platters contract, and allow the head to snap back in place........
Trust me it works, I've done it dozens of times!!!!!
