A good result by team GB/UK/England, well done.

On the point of the name, it would be nice if the MS would show the respect to get it right and use it consistently (not that I am suggesting any intent to intentionaly disrespect).

Was it a GB team and therefore exclude Northern Ireland players?
Or a UK team and include them?
Was it an England team, as referred to regularly in commentary?

We wouldn't (or at least the MS seemingly wouldn't) call the Netherland team 'Holland' so why do we get the UK team named incorrectly?

A small bit of due diligence might be in order

Call me an old pedant......
Mark,
From a commentary pov I was referring to Team GBR as we had all been discussing on the forums and the original schedules. England was really just me going into football mode - My bad. Then of course the jerseys had United Kingdom on them. I did get corrected by Barry Fuggle at one point, but at least I covered all bases!

As for exclusions you're not the only one to mention this. In fact some thought they had been intentionally left out. This wasn't the case. Twizz and I just put together what we could in that short time we had. Even when we rolled up on site we still didn't have everything in place and were weary to handover our own cash for the entrance fee.

In the ideal situation we would have been able to think more before dashing off down a path with the organisation. It would have also had much more of a structured approach from the FED. Time was not on our side and that wasn't our fault.

but like twizz menyioned in one of the videos - That moment was one to remember.

i know that the scottish paintball scene is pretty much dead with nothing but a random hope of ever recovering, but would be nice to have the title of Team GB representing all 4 regions and not just England :)

just a small issue that was digging in my side as i read through this thread, but congratulations in order all the same to the lads that done us proud.

Firstly on previous post Spike - I didnt intend to suggest that you had left anyone out, only that depending on the name selected it either includes or excludes NI.

Secondly - Liam - Team GB would only have 3 countries but in any case Spike and Twizz had the task of selecting the best players from these countries. If these players happen to all be English it doesnt detract from them representing the UK/GB.

Having to select from each country might be a nice to have in terms of inclusivity but it may have been the case here that the team selected was the best and to do anything otherwise would have been nothing but an exercise in political correctness.

The consequence may have been another tournament outcome, in my opinion.

Liam it was put together at the last minute, with some time and further involvement from the Fed a suitable long term Team UK structure will be put in place which will be both representative and fair. Great job Spike, Twizz, Markie and all the players!

Also congrats to Birmingham Disruption! UK paintball is on the UP :)

Thanks for them word's Jim both firm teams also got silverware as well :) i am going to stick up a post later with some points with have learned form this weekend.

But to be honest i think the Team GB thing should be run by the players for the players.

I think it should be separate from the industry and run on it's own with help if they want to give it.

Then every thing can transparent and not be looked at as a marketing tool for the companies.

If you take football for instance for some reason every one looks to football to see the differences with paintball.

The FA have no players or players input into the game i think this is why they have brought in Gareth southgate to run the youth program.

The FA have made this country's football team into a joke but who have the footballers got to answer to? a load of businessmen in suits if they had to answer to fellow players or the fans then i think it would be a different story.

This is not compareing the FED and the FA but this is what we don't and the people i have spoken to don't want it to come to this as well.

Are the fed even around any more? because we have heard nothing from them untill this point.

And this is what we want to achieve with it. we want to answer to the fans and our fellow players.

We need to be in it to win it simple as that we can't be weak when it comes to picking players or dropping them we need the best of the best and then have a practice program to come from that for our youth players.

Me and twizz are talking and again going to be talking tonight about the youth cup and details will be released shortly.

Markie, so let me get this right to make sure I haven't got anything wrong regarding this socialist enterprise you have in mind here ... are you suggesting you don't want any help from the industry???
Are you also suggesting, you don't need any sort of governing body under which you can function as a team?

As I understand it without Twizz etc putting up their own time effort and money there wouldnt have been a team anyway! And the pieces obviously all came together nicely!

But surely long term there needs to be universal support & backing, and a proper structure in place, to make any National team sustainable? Twizz is obviously the best man to keep things rolling, but surely in an official rather than ad-hoc capacity?

It's ok Mark I didn't take it that you did or intend to say that you did. If we'd known the fuller picture earlier in the year then we could have done more to include more - yes the result may have been different.
