My "don't ban paintball" Essay for school *LONG*

I believe what you are refering to are points of agreement. That is, idea or concepts that both sides can agree on. And if you read for them, I have them. Maybe they're ot as developed as tehy could be, but they are there. If one startes to go too indepth on the other side of the argument one begains to loos control of the piece and it either becones purly summary of the conflict or the advasarial reader will simply identify too much with their side of the argument and not shift twords the autor's side. Or so i'm told ...

It as something I was warned to watch out for by the teacher.

Papers turned in. I won't find out my grade on it or my grade in the class until mid to late next week. When ever my school posts them online.

Thanks for the help guys.

Don't worry about it, your essay was on why it shouldn't be banned, your meant to take sides, plus your 19 so that'd be the equivalant of our A levels. (two years on from G.C.S.E) and they move the goal posts at every level.

Yes, but I am a "professional writer." I tend to write better with more time. I had more time, but I sure as hell didn't opt to use it. When I rush, I tend to get locked into one voice, as seen here.

and what do you mean by they move the goal posts at every lvl.

I'm going to apologize in advance for my Pan Am Vegas write up. I was just re reading it and it really should have been better. I think it's due out in the April issue.

Just pointing out to some of my fellow UK posters that you were 19, as when you say school we tend to assume you're a schoolkid, In the UK we call that college or sixth form. One of the posters then mentioned GCSEs (which we take at 16)and I was just saying that you're above that level. As for "moving the goalposts" I just meant that what's right at GCSE level (sixteen and at school) may not be right when it comes to higher level's (A-level then Degree here). GCSE's are proscriptive and have a tight sylabus, not much room for "interpretation".

So, I was sticking up for you:D, as I am assuming you are doing a fairly high level course, with a lot more freedom than someone on National Currriculum English in the UK.

Moving the goalposts in education: just ask anyone who's done chemistry to Degree level, at the end of each level they tell you the stuff you learned is largely irrelevant and teach it a completely new way.
