To pay for the nationwide rollout of 2mbps to everyone in the uk... yep thats right 2mb.

For one I think its rediculous, I already get 20mb+ and see no reason why we should be paying for a rollout of a poorly conceptualized plan.

I would love to speak to the idiot who thought 2mb is worth all this money. I would much rather see the money invested in a much more future proof fiber to the home project.

I can only get 1mb where i live, so to double that speed would be good, but i agree it would be better spent on something more ambitious like fibre or whatever like you say.

Chances are the tax will just get spent on MP piss ups or something anyway.

On a good day i can download at 54kb/s. I'm on 512kb/s. where I live we cant get anything over that, even tho our next door neighbour can get 2mb.

figure that.

I get a max of around 50kb/s. Its not like I live in the middle of no where either its simply just a far position from the exchange.

So I welcome this but then again im not the one paying the taxes, could be spent on other things though.

phone internet tax

its 50p a month now, what will the tax be in 5-10 years time? another tv licence type tax is now looming, only way to stop this is for a large number of people to refuse to pay the landline bill untill the 50p charge is removed!, but lets face it who's going to risk getting cut off for 50p??
and when were all paying a fiver a month tax its too late:eek:
thats how it will go, bloody parasites:mad:

here's a little widely unkown fact for you, did you realise that non payment of the T V licence was the no 1 reason for women being jailed for any offence in the uk! a few years ago. not sure if it is still the no 1 reason now but it is an astounding statistic, place your bets for the first court summons for non payment of internet tax:D
