10th May 2004 - Vert Frame and Matrix Bolt Set - Change in availability

Vert Frame
Due to ongoing intellectual property issues regarding the vert frame, it has been decided to withdraw it from our product range. Those frames already sold will be supported by Evolve but no future sales will take place.

Matrix Bolt Set
Due to ongoing intellectual property issues in the USA, it has been decided to withdraw the bolt from sale in that country. Those bolt sets already sold will be supported by Evolve but there will be no future Matrix Bolt sales to customers in the USA. We have therefore removed the option to order this product in US dollars. Customers outside the USA (eg Canada) who want to order this item in US Dollars should email sales@evolvepaintball.com for manual processing of your order.

As a company Evolve take very seriously the rights of others to protect their intellectual property rights and would never wish to compromise another companies patent.

Sounds like Smart Parts' greed has forced many companies to re-assess what patents they own and who is currently in breach of them.

Very sad really as evolve make nice products.

the Evolve vert frame has been taken back due to words from WDP and their 'space frame'. from the horses mouth of martin from evolve when i spoke to him at paris

LJ's on the ball with the vert frame issue, although from Peegee's post on Matrixowner.com it sounded more like Evolve would be working with WDP on something in the future and had agreed to stop selling the vert frames rather than WDP demanding they stop.

Were WDP the first to come up with the vert-frame? If so then it would be entirley different from a situation where a company was enforceing a patent that they should not have. COUGH sp COUGH

im pretty sure they were. i do like the feel of the space frame, although i had the vert frame for the trix, and didnt like the feel of it as much, so now loki has it
like booga says, i dont think WDP are pissed at evolve. just pooling their resources for the ultimate vert frame. its not like wdp have enforced it on other vert frame makers, like OTB.

So what exactly is the connection with Smart Parts?

All I've seen (on other forums at least ) is that Evolve have decided to withdraw a product that appears to infringe a patent held by WDP.

I think people need to get a grip on themselves and stop jumping on bandwagons.

it appears that the new Sp High effieiency bolt, the freeflow and NDZ bolts for the new 03 Shocker all infringe evolves patient for there shocker bolt kits,

I believe that the evolve has patiented the ability to seal the fire chamber from the gas source before firing the paintball. This is the only way that you can get any real efficiency from the spool valve bolt design.

Now by not selling there bolts to the US and if they can stop SP and others from producing and selling there bolt kits, it would mean that SP would only be able to sell there latest creation as a marker that can only get around 700 shots from a 68/4.5
