Steve, could you please stop going around things and make decisions on what is allowed and what is not.

Id hate to show up at the tournament to be told that I have to get a new jersey, new pants and loose 50kilos and paint my red neck black since thats the way you decised that morning...

When you consider the garments the players can wear in X-ball you might want to consider the players health also. Looking at some of the NXL players after a weekend their body looks like they been beaten up by the KGB. I know no other sport where after a tournament the complete body of the athlete is full of bloody welts. This cannot be good for the skin in the long run either. And it's not overshooting in most of the cases, let's do a small calculation:

6 matches per weekend
20games in each
2 squads, so each player get 60 games per weerkend

If you get shot ones in each match thats 60 shots per weekend and in most cases you get shot more than once. Of course it varies, but in any case It seems like you get shot more in one X-ball match than you do in an entire 7-man touanemnt, and most of the times from close distances, espcecially the loosing teams (should have seen some of the Legacy guys after LA)

I bet when eventually the players get insured by the league or a players union the insurance company will require the use of a lot more protection for the players.

Please consider above when you tell the players to go out there pretty much naked...

I'm not able to say with 100% certainy yet, but we very well may not allow any jersey, Dye or other mark, with padding in the shoulder in Millennium X Ball. So a word to the wise: come prepared with an alternative if you wear jerseys with padding in the shoulders.

Padding in all Millennium games will probably be limited, as all the rules say, to forearm, elbow, shin, groin, breasts (for females), neck and head.

To answer Egi, I'm coming on here as early as I can possibly can to give anyone who reads this fair warning to be prepared. If I could say now with 100% certainty I would. And I don't think I'm any way suggesting that anyone play naked (but for some strange reason it doesn't seem to hurt as bad naked:p ) The rules have allowed for protection of a lot of vital, injury-prone areas as outlined above.

I personally think we've had enough pussy-footing around this issue and giving judges more work by having to dig into people's clothes to see how many layers they have on.

So, is it clear enough? The Dye jerseys with padding in the shoulders most likely won't be allowed. I'll get a definite answer as soon as I can and announce it here and send an e-mail to all EXL teams.

Egi, in all respect, it seems to me the logical conclusion of what you're saying is that we all dress up like Michelin guys. Then where would we be? Then everyone would have to be overshot or shot in the goggles to get eliminated.

I say, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen!

Believe me I know what it's like to get bruised and welted up because I reffed NXL at the World Cup. I wish I could get the picture someone took of my green, yellow, blue and red back and neck!

I've heard about some padding in trousers but I haven't looked myself. I suggest that you read the rules and make a reasonable judgment yourself. I honestly don't think it's rocket science.

Concerning Paul's question: I think Dye have jerseys without padding in the shoulders judging from pictures I saw of Legacy. Besides that, that is not our problem.

Steve, word on the grapevine is that Dye tops are fine as they are, with shoulder padding.

Feel free to ignore me if I'm poking my nose in or have been misinformed.

2 cents worth... concerning the padding.

Not a perfect remedy, but in Portugal a team "nameless" that you'll see playing with this same equipament in the MS just removed the pading from their "also nameless" jerseys.

Because in Portugal double protection is forbidden and they rather use "skinz" for real protection and not bounce factor. ;)

Jaime.

so steve, you think in the long run it's good image for the sport that all the players and refs look like they have been beaten up?? And we are talking no about padding in general, not a specific jersey etc.

I see the players wearing a tight neoprene style padding all over the body in a few years. A tight garment undernesth you jersey, even though soft, will not greatly increase bounces but it will divide the force of the paintball impact on a greater surface. I bet my extra body fat gives me a lot more bounces than a garment like that would -)

Steve, it's 12 days until Maxs and the MS rules (v1.2) still state the next guidelines.

It doesn't mention anything about DYE being illegal or pink and orange being disallowed.
I guess if you reffer to the rules as you do in you above post i supose you mean the latest version of the MS rules (v1.2)?

If i want to have 12 new shirts here in time for Maxs i and many
other player are going over our deadline with 12 day to go.

p.s. i noticed that DYE is not a major sponsor of the MS, maybe there in lies the problem ;)
